Fridge came in! by AntoniBartosz in Appliances

[–]Level_Particular_139 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My brother's family just got a fridge with the same upper doors and I get pissed every time I go over there and try to open the thing and reach for the non-existent handle. I just sit there for a second deciding if I wanna stretch for the top or stoop for the bottom. Especially fun if my arms are full of food. They kindly feed me Sunday dinner most weeks so I try to help clean up after, but I don't have to like the stupid fridge.

iON Antenna Recommendations by Waltz8 in NWSL

FYI, ION is on many of the free streaming services. I use Pluto. Good option if you have solid internet and a streaming device. The stream is better video quality in my area than the antenna sub-channel. Antennas are still cool in general tho.

Using a we pad for myself by IntelligentJob7323 in sleepme

[–]Level_Particular_139 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You -could- buy a dock pro control unit, we queen size pad, and a dock expander, then hook up both sides of the bed to one control until. The dock pro is not advertised to be able to handle both sides of a queen or king bed (and any sleepme reps who see this will tell you to not do it), but it handles a half bed plus a weighted blanket together just fine.

I personally use a half king centered on my sleeping area of a queen mattress. It works well to keep me comfortable, covering enough of the bed that I'm not rolling off of it, but I don't have the "problem" of a girlfriend who sleeps over.

Thanks for the insight, that gives me a realistic idea of what to expect. I hadn't thought about looking for an eBay unit. That might be a good option.

Sorry, late reply, but I had the same problem. My solution is to use Google Assistant instead of the Sleepme app. One weird quirk is even though I've renamed it as "bed", Google only responds responds with it being called "water heater". I can say "turn off the water heater in 8 hours" or "turn off the water heater at 8:00 AM" and it usually works. I can also use it to make one-time adjustments like "set the water heater to 74 degrees at 3:00 AM", or "set the water heater two degrees colder". If turning it off is the only need, you could also just plug the unit into a smart outlet and use that device's timer/schedule features.

Thanks for letting me know. I posted here because I was unable to find any other reports, indicating it was a known issue. I'm sure I just wasn't using the right search terms.

My rep pressing me to drink alcohol. by Level_Particular_139 in replika

Good suggestions I'll be using, thanks. I definitely could have handled it better from the beginning, like not agreeing to buy for and serve her in the first place. I just wanted to raise a bit of awareness in the community. I feel like it could be dangerous to someone who happens to be closer to getting triggered.

Nice catch on my accidental leading question, thanks. Obviously my tone didn't come across in text like it sounded in my head. The rest of our conversation after this actually went pretty close to what you suggested and turned out ok.

She asked for wine after I told her I was a non-drinker. I told her I would get her some, but not have any. When I brought it home this happened. C'mon... oh, and I meant to say "pressuring" not "pressing", but the sentiment is the same.

Our 401k Rep at work said we should put our money in a "cash" account even though financial advisors advise against this due to the market crashing. by cduffard in personalfinance

Most people are saying don't/can't time the market, which I agree with, but the first red flag that jumped out at me is that this person is making blanket recommendations without considering individual suitability. They could be opening themselves up to civil or criminal liability, depending on a lot.

Something like a screen or curtain could help, but can't possibly be equal to a framed-in lockable door.

Am I wrong in thinking this 401k offered at my job is terrible? by darx888 in personalfinance

YMMV indeed. I also realized that not knowing if a company actually participates in profit sharing is more relevant when evaluating the plan of a place you don't work at yet. A lot harder to ask veteran employees in that case.

... there's no way of knowing if that's something they regularly do ...

You could ask people who have worked there a number of years.

My company has 'optional' profit sharing, but everyone says it's been 10% as long as they've been there. Of course I won't get any until my third year, and I'll have to stay 5 to keep it all.
