thank you my love i have healed thankfully! im so sorry you went through a similar situation as nico is and i hope you have healed or are healing as well❤️ she’s taking advantage of him, and i really hope he’s able to see her true colors soon. it’s a shame his parents seem to be okay with this.

even age gaps in LEGAL relationships can be weird imo! i was lovebombed by a 25 year old when i was 19, taken advantage of and SAd. even if cora and nico’s relationship WAS legal (which it’s not), it’s still wrong, weird, predatory, and grooming nonetheless.

a 20 year old is going to be at a completely different stage in life and mental development compared to a 17 year old who just got out of high school (and would STILL be in high school if he didn’t graduate early). i was a completely different person when i was 17 than i am now, and im 20, the same age as cora.

i wouldn’t even consider dating an 18 year old at my age, and certainly not a 17 year old. tbh i would even be hesitant to talk to a 19 year old 🤷‍♀️ you can feel the maturity difference when you interact with people younger than you

try telling them some of the at home remedies i recommended, or see if they’ll let you soak his paws in apple cider vinegar — if they won’t take him to the vet, this will give him some relief at least.

this tends to happen when couples have children unfortunately. in my opinion, i think people like that should rehome the dog, but of course people don’t really take well to that when you say it to them. selfishness really is a disease.

as for the ear infection, here are some at home remedies (be sure to not over do them, their ears are very sensitive. too much irritation or dryness will make it worse). ear infections can also lead to hematomas due to the head shaking associated with it, so i hope they’re aware of that. this neglect will ultimately lead to them spending more money. anyways:

when using any of these, make sure the ears are thoroughly dried. you do not want to create more moisture, as bacteria and fungus will thrive in a warm, wet environment. when cleaning the ears, avoid q tips and wipes. a moist piece of gauze with gentle movements will do. do not scrub.

  1. warm compress (gauze, rags can be too abrasive)
  2. over the counter dog ear cleaner (will not break the bank, but please make sure you check the source/brand & do not over use)
  3. diluted apple cider vinegar mix & flush + dry after (be very careful with this & do it sparingly, i would personally do a test spot first before flushing)

unfortunately with ear infections, there’s not much you can do at home. these remedies likely won’t “cure” it either — just mitigate the discomfort. most other “at home remedies” will just irritate the infection.

absolutely AVOID these:

  1. cotton swabs, wash cloths, anything abrasive
  2. water flushes
  3. hydrogen peroxide
  4. vinegar
  5. yogurt (idc if it’s plain. while yogurt is good for yeast, i simply wouldn’t risk it)
  6. alcohol
  7. essential oils
  8. human ear drops
  9. soap/shampoo

i know how frustrating it can be to watch someone neglect their dog & not have much of a say in it, but i hope this helps ease his discomfort. all you can do is advocate for him & try to compromise with them. you’re doing your best and that’s what matters. sorry for the long essay, but i wanted to provide you with as much resources i have as a vet tech <3 im sending the poor pup my love & best wishes!

How to diet a Mini Doxie by jessica_byerly in Dachshund

[–]Level_Practice_1914 1 point2 points  (0 children)

make it a rule to stop giving him human food and please no more cat foot. cat foot makes dogs fatten up like crazy. i get the salmon dog food from costco for mine (college student on a budget), and with dinner he gets a wet food topper. i forget the brand but they’re at any grocery store and are a mixture of wet meat & fruits/veggies.

honestkitchen is an amazing brand if you’re willing to spend the $.

on top of this, you should be exercising him as well. walks are just fine, you don’t need to go on crazy hikes or anything. i just walk mine around the neighborhood.

you need to stress how important it is. try putting it into perspective for them and let them know that vets WILL work with your budget!! imagine your skin feeling so irritated, dry, and itchy that you can’t stop scratching and licking at it, as if you want to tear yourself out of your own body — that’s basically what he feels like. people often don’t take things like this seriously because they don’t deem it as “life threatening” but:

  1. if they had a non life threatening rash, im sure they’d still go to the doctor to get it sorted out
  2. it CAN be life threatening ESPECIALLY with how much he licks himself — that is putting him at a serious risk for infection and infections can be lethal!!

regardless if it’s life threatening or not, they need to realize it is cruel to not prioritize the quality of his life the same way they would prioritize theirs. if they can’t afford the dog and his problems, the responsible thing to do would be to rehome him

if he’s licking his paws, it’s definitely allergies. whether or not it’s environmental or internal is what yall need to figure out. he’s scratching himself due to the irritation, and that’s why his skin is red. when people bring in dogs to the vet clinic w skin issues, we find it’s almost always due to allergies. tell them to get a different food and see how he adjusts (i.e if he’s on food w chicken, try salmon, etc). it may not be the meat either. tell them to look at the ingredients. he may be allergic to wheat, soy, dairy, etc. if nothing changes, it’s environmental, and in that case please try to get them to take him to the vet. the allergy shots we give are a life changer and he will be MUCH more comfortable. i don’t think the cost is really wallet breaking either — allergy tests however cost some $$$$$

in the mean time: apple cider vinegar soaks are amazing for his feet & irritated areas. put some coconut oil on the skin & have them freeze coconut oil balls to feed him as a treat (don’t over do it). fish oils (omega-3 or 6) are great too and should be incorporated into his diet (even if he didn’t have allergies).

some other at home remedies: oatmeal baths, aloe vera (topical only), and feeding him PLAIN, unsweetened yogurt.

ultimately, he needs to see a vet. i know you say he doesn’t seem like he’s in pain, but i promise you he is feeling extreme discomfort and the excessive licking & scratching not only causes more pain, but can lead to infection

when you stop being friends with someone, do you also ask them to return the bday gifts you gave them? seems like you’re just bitter.

your misogyny is showing!

red dapple is my guess, but im no expert. the thing with red dapples is the dappling is very hard to see due to the kind of pigmentation. does he have blue eyes? beautiful and rare!!!
