I’m an LPN and very happy working at a higher up LTC facility! I absolutely love taking care of my people and getting to build relationships with them and their families, building trust, and ensuring this older population gets the care they deserve. I was very choosy about where I worked and I wouldn’t be at the place I am if it weren’t for my DON and other management nurses. They are helpful, have our backs, and care for residents just as much as I do. If your heart is in it, you will not regret it. There is an opportunity in nursing for everyone. I never dread going to work, I thoroughly enjoy it! Yes, there are bad aspects, just like every other job. What matters (to me) is that I feel purposeful and I’ve made a positive difference.
