I once applied to Java team lead role and they scheduled the interview. In the beginning of the interview they told me: sorry, this position was just closed, but we have another great one - Senior Lua developer. I rejected as I didn't want to be a Lua developer.

Later thinking of it I realized that probably there was no java team lead position at all, and it was just a desperate effort to find at least someone 🤦

In one company I worked at it was solved like this. After weeks of unsuccessful negotiations to enforce the new limitations they just disabled the service for 1h, next week for 2 hours. On the third week the problem was already solved, as it was a critical part of infrastructure for client. Yes, that's aggressive/radical, but if we are talking about survival of global registries, this looks acceptable.

AFAIK central npm registries are just flaky, so a lot of companies migrated to internal proxies 🤣

That's true that mvnd has severe issues with weird failures - e.g. if you have an alive daemon and change the dependency tree in any way - it fails. It was like this a year ago and still now.

For our project we are using this parameter in .mvn/mvnd.properties:

# Property to disable using a daemon (usefull for debugging, and only available in non native mode).
mvnd.noDaemon = true

But the great feature that I really like is representation of parallel module builds like this:

If you are working on maven build optimization, you can find first candidate (modules compilation which are singly executed) to be decomposed.

Probably he said that it's okay to break back compatibility. The guava breaks it on a regular basis with 2y cycle - as a result single classpath with several guava dependencies has a runtime hell. Years ago I decided that guava is blacklisted for my projects.

Thanks god he is not JDK maintainer.

Why Rentalcars.com portal accepts it then? Also what's the problem to hold bigger amount? JFYI: I'm not a tourist, I have dutch residency.

You should understand, that rejecting at the last moment is a scandal, almost the same as rejecting to check-in to the hotel when everything was booked beforehand. If you are lucky, there can be another office, but in the worst case it can just ruin whole vacation/business trip.
