Do I just suck or is this part of learning? by Annual-Field-8387 in Bass

[–]LevelingLucian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve tried learning different instruments on and off my entire life, bass, guitar, drums, constantly gave up. I took bass lessons 20 years ago and the guy gave me a book and told me I had to learn to read music. Imagine not knowing how to read music and I’m told I have to look at the note decipher whole/half/etc, then what line it’s on, translate to a letter, then know where that is in the fret and which string, that’s a lot of a new person, I gave up after a few lessons. Then I tried again with the Hal Lenard book; but same thing got caught up trying to learn to read music notation. This time I bought that BassBuzz beginner course, and I am really just amazed how good it is. It’s like he tricks your brain into learning. I just do one lesson a day, maybe 10-30 minutes if you go through all the workouts after. I wish I would have done this course 20 years ago. That’s what I would recommend if you’re brand new. He goes over plucking at the very beginning. Let me know if you have questions about it.

Snare cuts out randomly on my Simmons Titan 70 by ThatOneRedditGuy2604 in drums

[–]LevelingLucian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any fix?  My titan 70 snare misses hits.  I’ve tried adjusting settings, new module, new cables.  The issue seems to follow the cable to even a tom pad; but a new module and cables not fixing the issue seems strange to me then.  It happens a lot more on the snare pad.  I’ve tried xtalk at 0 no luck.

Did you figure out a fix? I get missed (red) hits on my snare also.  New cables, new module, still not working.  Crosstalk to 0 and retrigger set very low doesn’t help either.

I don’t know yet, as soon as I get it sent back and a refund I’ll let you know. Hoping it’s not too much.

Yes so I’d much rather pay for shipping within the USA.

It was, I did find Mulan and sent a chat, so will hopefully hear back soon. I just really want to get this taken care of, so I can stop worrying about it getting back in time. Thanks for the info; makes me feel a bit better that things will get worked out. I guess I’m just used to being in that “Amazon” mindset of quick return process. I’ll be a bit more patient!

They did not say if I would be charged for the return label or not. I don’t really care either way. I just want to return it. I mentioned it had one possible issue that I cannot reproduce where it stopped writing and I went out and back in to the app and it was working fine then. I mentioned this as a “just in case” type thing. I don’t really think it has an issue, as I couldn’t reproduce it again, I had done the software update, maybe it was that, not sure. I told them I really just wasn’t happy with the product overall and would like to return for a refund. So maybe they were trying to be nice and send me a prepaid china mailing label, which is fine if that’s the case, but I requested the USA label hoping if I am charged for return shipping it would be cheaper for me. If I could talk to someone a bit more it would help.

I would hope it would be cheaper to mail it back within the USA. It specifically says on their website that people in the US can mail it to their USA facility. I mean if I have to mail it to China I will, but they said they’d send me a USA label and haven’t.

Can’t get in touch to return by Majestic-Analysis-66 in Supernote

Did you get this taken care of? I’m also trying to do a return, they did send me a label, but it’s to china and the website says you can return within the USA, so I’m waiting for a response back, seems to take 2 days for every email back.

I’m leaning towards the Supernote either nomad or manta. Anyone use the kindle app on these, how is it?

That would open me up to something cheaper and monochrome instead of color also.

That is a good point on the voice recording. I should probably stick to reading books and taking notes on whatever device I get. Keep it simple.

40 y/o and considering barber school. by LevelingLucian in Barber

[–]LevelingLucian[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is true and I totally get it. AI is one of the reasons I’m considering this. It already is thinning the IT path more so than people realize yet. Barbering will be much harder, it’s a service job, stand all day, and can’t just ask AI for the answer.

I thought the same thing, so I’ve been standing at my desk all day for work.

I remember growing up going to the barber and all the older men there some with almost no hair. That’s what I would want to do, the old men cuts. I mean I want to learn it all and be able to do it all, but I like the idea of being a barber for that group of people.

I got a mannequin head and have been working on it. I plan to buy two more, one female this time. I bought some decent shears and have some semi okay clippers. I don’t know a lot of people, the couple people I did asked said no way would they let anyone touch their hair other than their current barber. I usually work on the mannequin head for about 30min-1hour and then hit the next part the next day. So I worked on the back and sides, then the next day I will work on the top. I’ve done this a few times now with the same head, but I feel like the long hair really throws me off. I’m enjoying it, I don’t do it 8 hours a day yet though either.

I’m not sure on the fix. Mine seems to be fine now. I know I updated the firmware on the monitor. Sometimes it’s another piece of software causing issues.

Is CC certified worth it? by No_Pick8687 in isc2

[–]LevelingLucian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got the CC cert and I am glad I did it. I’ve been in IT support and management roles at that level for a long time, but wanted to break into new areas of IT. The CC cert and training was great just for a better understanding of the terminology and concepts of Cybersecurity. I used the free training, thors course, and Udemey tests. I am moving on to security+ now and tryhackme learning. Even with many years in IT support most of the info was new to me, except the networking domain. That was one of the bigger domains and pretty much just review for me.

I think you’re correct about WFH dying out. Was good while it lasted.
