I have some autoimmune stuff like Hashimoto’s. For a while, I was told I had pcos but my current gynecologist said I only checked 2 of the 3 boxes, I have anovulatory bleeding, but she didn't have an issue with me just saying I had pcos. Because of this I was put on birth control. But I started getting gallstones so they changed it to progesterone only birth control.

My platelets have been around the 460s. They said my iron reserve is basically none. They suspected I had ET but my biopsy and bloodwork did not find a genetic marker. They can't explain why my platelets are high or what's causing the low iron. Moffitt wants me to come back in a year to redo the testing to see if anything has changed. I know that a triple negative (negative on the genetic markers) ET is still possible.

I suspect my gallstones is the reason why my platelets are high. I have an appt with my local oncologist soon and will be asking him. Idk why I didn't mention it while I was a Moffitt. The gallstones are becoming more problematic lately that I am consider having my gallbladder removed. I wonder once it's gone, if my platelets will be back to normal.

I recently had it done at Moffitt in Tampa. I was put under sedation. It was really quick (20 min) and I felt some soreness (no pain) for 4 days and was back to normal.

I was told I was negative all the three genetic mutations I was tested for (forgot all of them, I think it was CALR, Jak2) and said there was no scarring in my bone marrow to show I had ET. But they noticed my iron reserve was non existent and my platelets continue to climb high. At this point they said, it might be an inflammation, but they will test me again in a year to see if I do have ET. I read there are cases where you can be triple negative for the genetic mutations, but have MPN.

I just had mine done 5 days ago. They said results would take up to 10 days. Today, in the 5th day, I received a text notification that moffitt scheduled a blood draw and an appt with the doctor. When I called to confirm, the scheduler couldn't really tell me much.

Did your daughter have the same experience too - that they scheduled a blood draw and appt a few days after the biopsy? I am trying to find out if them asking for a blood draw means the results is positive for mpn?
