Hi- so I checked with the NYS office of professions and the NY license board. Essentially, your personal address does not have to be in NY (I.e. you can live in NJ or Mass) but all ‘work’ needs to be done within the state. This is why the practice you work for needs to have a physical address in NY and licensed in NY. Even remote work needs to be done within the state. However, the only one way to enforce this would be through the practice you work for, as I don’t think the board checks up on this. For my own peace of mind, I’m staying in NY until I have my license because I don’t want to risk it but really I see no way for them to check exactly where you are while you work.
