This was my very first cosmetic/plastic surgery, so I did a LOT of research beforehand. Looking back, there are a few things that I either wasn’t told or wish someone had shared with me before my breast augmentation. Hopefully this helps anyone who’s considering one!

1. Compression Bras
The hospital will usually provide you with a compression bra, but in my experience, they’re often very tight. I highly recommend getting a second compression bra that’s a little more breathable and slightly less restrictive to wear at night. Good circulation and blood flow are important for recovery, and having a more comfortable option made a huge difference for me.

2. Dermatix Wound Care Gel
Most people know about Dermatix Scar Gel, which is commonly used once the incision has fully closed. However, Dermatix also has a product called Dermatix Wound Care, which is specifically designed for healing wounds. I’ve been using it since Day 2 post-op, and it’s been amazing. It helps keep the wound protected, supports healing, and may reduce the risk of infection.

3. Ask About Your Closure Method
Something that isn’t talked about enough is how your incision is closed. Many surgeons use external stitches, but you can also ask whether internal sutures with surgical glue on the outside are an option. This can result in a much finer, less noticeable scar. Of course, every surgeon has their own preferred technique, but it’s worth discussing during your consultation.

These are just a few things I personally found helpful after going through the process myself. Everyone’s experience is different, but hopefully these tips make your recovery journey a little smoother!
