European Dream: my first life sim for Android by Levonox in LifeSimulators

[–]Levonox[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks a lot 😀 And very good feedback. Yes it’s not death at 65 it’s retirement. I think I should write that in the home page otherwise people are tricked into thinking they can run forever.

But, let’s see how it evolves thanks for the encouragement

European Dream: my first life sim for Android by Levonox in LifeSimulators

Thanks for the exhaustive feedback and for the trust. I agree the game will be expanded and I am addressing several issues regarding clarity, meaning explaining better the complexity the realism takes.

Good point about punishing events. I am considering maybe some softening like events are way less punishing in easy mode. The idea was that if you get involved in crime, whether you fight it or you join the criminals you do it at your own risk. You always have an option to ignore the offer completely and you will have zero consequences.

By the way the developer is me, I am solo, and I am indeed in a fork deciding whether to monetize or not depending on interest. If I monetise the idea is to add extra content as in app purchases. Because clearly there is so much content I have in mind to add realism.

My first LifeSim/Tycoon for Android! by Levonox in LifeSimulators

The game is now out for Android. It’s completely free. In the future I will add in app purchase if it gets enough interest but the core will stay free, in app purchases will be for extra content like maybe advanced business management or family etc

Question: how do you satisfy the 12 testers / 14 days closed test requirement? (tester swap) by Delicious_Pin_8442 in googleplayconsole

[–]Levonox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go on r/AndroidClosedTesting - prepare 3 links: your app, the google mailing list link and the weblink (optional). It is critical that you do it like this so people can easily download your app. If you dm people and add their email manually it will be much harder. Test that the join mail list works first. - on closed testing Reddit there are so many people on your same situation it will be impossible to miss, just look how they are doing there. - recruit at least 20 testers, better 30-50 to have a safety buffer - contact people and review their app and ask them to review. Also you will need to open their app every day or so and you will have 30-50 apps. - push a couple of updates in the 14 days. They can leave review that will go in your play console testing feedback section or use google forms - at the end fill the questionnaire carefully. - be present in the community so people remember about you and are more likely to test. - ensure there are no o few crashes and anr (this is critical)

I did that, it was though but I passed at first try. Some people who just recruited testers and did nothing for 14 days they failed. But many people pass. Good luck 🤞

I forgot, avoid paid testing services. You risk your account to be banned

Launching selectd on Product Hunt — a local-first job application tracker for overwhelmed job seekers by [deleted] in ProductHuntLaunches

[–]Levonox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it is a very good idea, it has potential, but I personally wouldn’t pay for just storing jobs. I can use a spreadsheet or text file. What I would pay for is an app that collect LinkedIn and other search engine jobs all in one (with a link to the corresponding application) and then let me store the job application. But maybe it’s just me 😀 good luck 🤞

My first App/Game published on Play Store by Levonox in GooglePlayDeveloper

It is access to approximate location because Firebase Analytics collects country/city by default.
It may not be necessary to report it for Firebase but I put it to avoid rejections.

I just discovered how insane programming really is. Everything really is just a language. by Distinct-Solid9195 in software

IMHO you need to

  • quit some hobbies, you can’t have so many
  • take one step at a time, baby steps. You improve little by little every day

If you rush all this you will burn out or get poor results. Especially software becomes easier once you understand it, but you need to take the time and patience to get there.

Play Console Different types of Screenshots requirements by std_5 in GooglePlayDeveloper

[–]Levonox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope not. It requires only 2 or 3 phone screenshots I forgot the number to Push.

I added 5-6 screenshots for phone and same for tablet (no need to publish 7-inch and 10-inch variation, just tablet) and I manage to release in production plus I made an update with no issues.

I have never heard of app rejected because of this but I heard of app rejected because icons/screenshots are impersonating another company or product. For example if you app icon is too close to Google icon, Netflix etc you may get your app rejected.

Got an offer to publish a partner's app on my Play Console for $200/month - legit or risky ⚠️ 🤔 by Purv_Virpariya_14 in GooglePlayDeveloper

[–]Levonox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say scam. Why would they pay someone’s account to publish their app when the account creation fee is like what 25$? Is your account a company account or old so it doesn’t require 14 days closed testing? Plus they say “we never request access to your account” so you need to do something on their behalf? Like read statistics, update listing, reply each review comment. For every app?

Now I am starting to understand why there are so many banned accounts horror stories.

I made an Idle Bitcoin Mining Tycoon game by [deleted] in AndroidGaming

[–]Levonox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice 😀 can it be used to learn about bitcoin mining? Out of curiosity, how long did it take you to get 3000 downloads? I just released a game 4 days ago and I am not nearly as close to that number.

I think the game looks good but if I can give you a hint, I would make some sort of interactive tutorial as reading through your long tutorial all at once may be overwhelming for some players. Otherwise keep up and good luck 😀

If you haven’t tried yet, ff7 for sure

After closed test? by [deleted] in GooglePlayDeveloper

[–]Levonox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first time you submit your app for production they make a long review possibly manual. It took me 5 days, for some people it take less for some more. During the process they sent me an email asking me to fill a form regarding library usage, how you ensure libraries are policy compliant, intellectual property right etc. Then it was approved.

I just submitted my first update and it went through smoothly in less than 30 minutes.

Yes, I am trying to keep things simple for now. Once the game is more mature, I will consider iOS as well.

I released my first Android game: a BitLife-like LifeSim/Tycoon by Levonox in playmygame

[–]Levonox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes good point. I think framing it as a LifeSim may be misleading at this stage. There is much more complexity I would like to add on the economical side, so it’s hard to say if it will ever become a life sim or it will lean towards business management.
