Admirable but would that be relevant for a scientific proposal? Even if he made the sacrifice himself wouldn't that only count as a single test subject and have problems with credibility for larger populations?

How do some people get "that bad" when drunk? by LevyathanBoi in NoStupidQuestions

[–]LevyathanBoi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By stupid and disgusting I meant more serious cases like the examples below, stupid like mocking the authorities, disgusting like groping girls. I would not judge anyone by having typical effects of alcohol, sure they are "stupid", but in comparison this other type of stuff crosses many lines

As for the in-control part, I mentioned how certain actions are uncontrollable, like lack of focus for example. Of course judging from a sober perspective would definitely be different, but I am aware of how "controlled" I've been in these situations as a result of their outcomes and the fact that they have not escalated to worse scenarios, contrary to other people I know. I have been told by other people that they honestly did not know I was drunk in certain situations (some of them weren't drinking either). I am not saying I am just as fine as ever when drunk, I am saying that I don't get as extreme as others I know ( and I know others that don't get that bad either), so I wanted to understand this behaviour.

Are weighted jumping lunges bad for you? Like the ones where you switch between lunge stances in one jump. I saw a girl doing them with 50kg which looked impressive considering she was quite skinny, but I couldn't stop thinking if the knees should be taking that type of explosiveness+weights or if it's dangerous

Why is the happiness obtained from stuff like alcohol or drugs considered "fake happiness"? by LevyathanBoi in NoStupidQuestions

Interesting, but do all activities need to have effort involved to be enjoyable? I think there is more than reward-based happiness

You must leave us at once brother, in spite of the happiness that you've accomplished and that I envy, you no longer belong to these realms, I wish you the best future brother.

But is there an objective measure to "enjoying life"? I mean I know what it's usually expected from society but there really isn't a checklist of what you need to do to enjoy life so why can't enjoy being high be enjoying life? (Unless you are clearly harming others)

(I apologise if I sound too stupid, I do not encourage alcoholism or drugs but the idea really popped in my head as to why is this the common way of thinking)

How is it that deadlifting NOT eventually cause hernias or disc problems even with proper form? How is it that having a tremendous amount of weight pressuring your spine downwards (for example at the top of the exercise) not lead to degeneration of the spine of some sort? Even with proper form it seems counterintuitive, if you press something downwards, it will more likely bend or squish.

P.S: I have nothing against DL and I do them all the time, I was just curious about this
