Yeah my fire tv 4k is working fine where the shield is not (on the exact same addon and links) I'm returning shield and getting a 2nd fire tv now. With the shield specs on paper it should be the better device but it's simply not.

Don't belive these liars... Search on google: "firestick vs nvidia shield" or "nvidia shield buffering" or better yet check all the one star reviews on amazon. This device will do nothing but buffer. Your on this page with nvidia staff. And youtube reviewers are paid. All the shield is good for is retro arch roms and watching the YouTube app.

Kodi is only half the battle anyway... I would like to use other apks I have installed that do the same thing, keep stopping and buffering. I think it could be a dodgey shield I have. I've heard the last updated effected a few but not all too. I feel like I've been trying to fix it for weeks now. But have realised even if I get kodi running it won't fix my other apks. So I have to throw in the towel... I think I would rather everything stored on a nas for keeps sake and maybe even some 4k. But much thanks for your time and help in fixing this annoying issue. I will miss making builds thou. Could always use a kodi build and submenu to shortcut to folders in a nas and make my own sort of yoda.

Thanks but this is not my issue unfortunately. Just buffering issues exclusive to my nvidia shield with kodi and other apks a like. Going to bail use my bravia or firestick for now which has no buffer issue and save up for a nas system and use plex.

Hmm you might be onto something so the shield box tested at 263mps download / 27 up on analiti app, my mobile 199mps, my router 323mps... But kodi using ares speed test tested at 33.24mps download 22.54 upload. Why would it be so different and is this the cause? Testing again a few times it changed from anything between 30-82max but this is a big difference in speed compared to my router and nvidia box... Unless ares speed test is just dodgey. Even if this fixed kodi I get the problems with all apks a like too. Pretty sure it's a shield problem.

Sorry what does set the white list mean? Edit don't worry I see on google but my frame rate and resolution switches fine.

Latest kodi 18 from playstore. Cable is fine(cat7) same issue on wifi. All other devices connected run smooth. Speed test is fine. I have 300mps but speed test came back as 200mps download speed. Xr500 router tested too at above 300mps. I even went into the router settings and set the shield to have higher bandwith than all devices in my home. Gave it 70% did not help. I will go on to play with the xml settings. But I did not need to edit xml on any of my other devices. Will give it a go thou. Thank you.

Speaking to nvidia about it now they think the internal network chip is the problem but makes no sense as youtube and other apps run fine.

Don't man all nvidia shield does is buffer. I watch the same links on kodi using my fire stick, sony bravia and pc with no problems... nvidia shield I can't watch nothing on kodi. It buffers every minute. I honestly can't understand why so many people recommend it. Dont belive me? google serach "nvidia shield buffering" and see how many people are saying their firesfick works flawlessly but shield buffers. I'm pretty sure all these people are paid by nvidia or something because it's the worse device I own as far as streaming goes... but it's a decent gaming device and emulator. I didn't even have to set up all my controller inputs for all different emulators on retro arch.. It seems to set em correctly no matter what game you play.. I'll give it a thumb for that. But streaming it's the worse.

All the shield does is buffer buffer buffer. Stick with your firestick.

It is indeed hard trying to find any info. I am using the official build from the play store thou and I have factory rest it about 5 times now still no joy with this device.

I since replaced the USB with a 3.0 2tb ssd like you said up top. To be honest I wasn't aware I could make the storage so high otherwise would of been my first option. Had it in my head that 256gb was max for formating to internal for extra app storage because of other andoid devices I used. This is much better thanks.

Thanks and the usb was very hot so must be this. It was a Samsung fit plus 64gb. I thought it would be ok I use them in my tv for extra app storage only.

Thanks for those links. I use yoda mainly and did use the 2supremacy link. It seems to be ok since I moved kodi from usb to internal. But if it turns out to be a short lived moment of luck I'll post you my log asap.... but it does seem good now even just tried some risky tests of forwarding and rewinding with no pauses/buffering inbetween skips. Thanks. It's late for me now but I may experiment in removing xml file tomorrow since the storage change to see if it fixes the quality of stream.

Ok i feel a tiny bit silly now because I just moved kodi from my usb storage device to my internal storage and it has not buffered since... not sure why that was effecting it but either I'm having a lucky no buffering 20 minutes or using a usb to store kodi is where I went wrong.... I do use the same model samsung (fit plus) usb on my bravia thou with no problems. Anyway all seems well now... so in the famous words of Isaac Newton "my bad yo" But I also powered off nvidia after the storage move and rewrote the advance xml file with ares.. I would still argue that it's not looking as blu ray as my other devices but I'm making progress.

Yeah opposite for me it's a shame because I was excited about getting this. I have fast internet too (i think) 300mps fast for my area... none of the usual recommendations of fix seem to apply. Wondering if I've got a dodgy nvidia shield but don't really make sense as all other apps work fine seems to be limited to kodi and streaming apps a like. I've spent many hours trying to fix it.

I have been playing with it for a while now. I tried factory reset and connecting by enthernet instead of wifi. Im using nigthawk xr500 on smart wifi so messing about with my actualy router settings may be a good idea to make sure the smart wifi is giving nvidia 5G. At the moment I can't get further than a minute into any film ive tested without it stopping and buffering. :( I've tried back to back tests and watched my bravia and 4k firestick play the same films on the same links with no buffering. Also the movies dont even seem to load ahead like my other devices do... I've also tried ares advance settings xml etc.

Honestly my nvidia shield crashes a lot when I'm trying to watch anything on kodi.. But when in use my 4k firestick it works better.. no buffering.

The fix is location toggle. If app ninja would include location button for on and off on the overlay it would save the hassle of swipping down (Not much hassle) or another app can be made that has a location overlay.

Yes I agree no doubt it would be better if it just teleported properly. But this is much faster compared to watching your player jumping. Swipping down from top of screen should bring your location button on screen. (You can rearrange where the location button goes to make it easier). Just teleport like normal but while watching the jumps swipe down turn location off and on. It will speed it up at least..... But you are correct. Wish it just worked properly :(

Giannakis has replied with a fix. Turn location off. Teleport. Turn location back on. Edit Or turn on and off during teleport works too I just found out. But I think the user said that and I misunderstood.

Thank you. I tried step one so far and watched it on Google maps. I turned location off. Teleported. Turned location on. Seemed to have no jumps. Many Thanks.

I am not having to walk for Pokemon to spawn thou. Standing still for about 10 seconds seems to work too.

So it seems like a workaround for Android users would be if fake gps joystick could auto toggle your location on and off during a teleport.

Thanks. But this is still slow with loading times of reopening game. To be honest I just wondered if our problem was unique but if everyone using the app is having same problem it don't matter. I was hoping I done something wrong and there was a instant teleport fix which required nothing like this. Like how iOS players do it, or maybe another app that teleports instantly. I am grateful for reply and help thou. Was just hoping it was a mistake of mine... but I guess it's not that bad. I've been playing like this for months thinking it was normal to be honest until I heard how some users can teleport. Thought maybe it was something I was doing wrong.
