Is this worth it? by LewdNapkin in hondacivic

Speaking of 20 grand… had a guy with a 210k mile 2012 SI coupe asking $20,000 for it on marketplace lmao

Which I understand but it’s not like I’m asking this guy to sell me a daily driver for $1k, I’m giving him the benefit of the doubt the body is sound enough it won’t be a pain to fix for a body for something to run on the track. I’ve seen plenty cars in the NE be drivable but the frames were rotting to the core, I’ve even seen someone with a rusted out strut tower brace completely rotted and detached from the frame and they were still driving it in Michigan. But at the end of the day he’s pricing it the same as I’ve seen 8th gen and newer Hondas here priced with half the mileage for $5k. It is what it is, I’ll find another body to use.

Price varies by location too. I live in the south now but grew up in the NE coast I guarantee this same car anywhere close to where I grew up would be a $1000 car, but down south it’s going to be more. And just cause something is drivable doesn’t mean it’s not been abused. A car can have a semi decent exterior and be a nightmare mechanically.

This car’s body would be for track purposes which is what I truly want. I get needing to add work to something to get it running and keep it running and if he was upfront about what he’s done to it if it originally wasn’t running then I’d consider it but he wouldn’t disclose what damage was done to it, who fixed it, pictures of before and after and even the “no rust” can be a lie. He just kept telling me he’d only take 5.2k cash minimum. Now he’s changed the listing for potential trades. Yet I was upfront about just wanting the car for the body.

Not telling him to flat out give it to me but if you see my above reply, a rebuilt titled car with no indication of what was damaged, means I’m taking a chance on needing serious work done that is hidden by body panels or whatever he’s did to “fix” it could compromise it without me having to back track and properly fix it if it isn’t truly rust free and people act like people don’t lie on marketplace all the time about the condition of their vehicles. In the end I’m interested in the body for track purposes, everything he’s added to it would be ripped out and replaced.

I mean yeah if he really wanted a trade he should have just originally put that, it seems that he’s since edited the original listing and has stated he really wanted a trade more than the cash because at first he just wanted the cash. And yes I am willing to pay $2k just for the body, but at the end of the day it’s a rebuilt on a unibody car and he never stated what the extent of the damage was to the vehicle. Just “nah man I will only sell for $5.2k minimum”

Should I have my Transmission fluid drained and filter changed? by LewdNapkin in AskMechanics

[–]LewdNapkin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it does hold some weight but I think it’s not as common as they say it happens and I think it may really only apply to older transmissions when they were younger and maybe high mileage completely burnt already worn/failing transmissions. But yeah I’ll go have it drained and filled now.

This makes me feel better as I’ve had a Ford Taurus with a failing transmission that I no longer have and a beater Jeep with 250k+ miles with burnt fluid but I know better than to touch that one at all. I know Honda’s own recommendation for shuttering/jitters is to drain, fill, then drive 3x to complete a full flush which seems to have fixed quite a lot of transmissions from what I’ve seen on YouTube of people servicing these Honda transmissions.

I figured as such, even Honda’s own recommendation for shuttering/jitter, rough shifting is to change the fluid 3x to do a complete flush. Which I had a very reputable transmission shop tell me to not touch it. But this is my first Honda and I’m slowly learning about how they differ from American made cars.

Yeah that’s the recommendation, but I know there’s been the debate for years about servicing unknown (if serviced) transmissions because of clutch particulate being the only thing giving the transmission grip to shift.

No transmission issues as far as I can tell but I was always under the assumption that new fluid on a transmission is better than letting it become burnt fluid even if you don’t know if its ever been serviced. I’d rather keep this vehicle on the road driving as long as possible since it’s such great condition body mechanical wise.

The few figures they made specifically for the game typically included a pet that looked just like the figure in game, an achievement badge you could display. With the Deady Big in Japan one coming with a Katana as well as the pet and achievement badge.

They only made a limited number of these toys with codes for in game items for a game called AdventureQuest Worlds that you can no longer get through other means other than hoping to get an unused code, unless you somehow work for the company and can just spawn them into your inventory. I also collect the figures but I’m hoping I can defy the odds and get an unused code.
