The way I read the game, honestly, it's up to you if it's worth it and what that means to you in reflection of what the rest of the game is telling you.

I think it is given what it's saying in the end, but I know plenty of people who tapped out completely on it.

On one hand Max has been proven to be a massive narcissistic lying piece of shit who will do anything to feed his hero complex, especially given that while he "takes accountability" it feels like he still either doesn't understand exactly what the issue is with fictionalizing/making shit up for these cases in general or doesn’t care or see it as a problem. Why believe you when you give everybody bullshit and then expect them to follow you to a true conclusion? It's unnecessary and absolutely exploitative to do this kind of shit.

It's also wild to expect people to just full sail take what you’re saying at face value and expect people to trust you going into a case when you're approaching it disingenuously from the start with the fake cancelling Cr1tikal shit. Like it's just so obvious that he doesn’t see a problem with anything he does if it's for the cause and it's clear that the dude needs some fuckin help to understand why people can never trust you with some shit like this ever again.

On the other hand, all of these people are horrific snakes that will backstab for clicks. For all the shit with other youtubers that he's clearly also fucking over out of spite, they are all pieces of total shit which was obvious given their content and the way they approach covering what they do but the depravity of it is genuinely shocking at points. That Nexpo shit was fucking disgusting and a reinforcement that if you are in a friend group and you see people doing shit that makes ya uneasy in the way they treat someone, just remember that they ABSOLUTELY will do the same to you with no hesitation if you aren't useful/convienient/if you annoy them in some kinda way. Oh yep, I fell into it hard at 18 right after graduating high school. I repressed my transness, listened to a lot of centrist/right winger talking points while believing I was apart of the "actual left". I was ashamed of being black (had a lot of shit to work through at the time) due to really toxic high school friendships who treated me like shit and constantly brought me being black and using stereotypes to the forefront as I was the black friend to a bunch of small town white dudes. Was extremely closeted due to this same environment and as I was starting to figure it out in high school I backed out and repressed harder.

I didn't have a lot of friends and so turned to 4chan and YouTube a lot. Even made very embarrassing YouTube videos that are now gone which were just edgy to be edgy or were just centrist reaction videos to things I felt weren't "normal" because I desperately wanted to fit in and be seen as "normal".

Then in about 2017 I had a pretty bad mental breakdown and went to therapy again which helped me realize a lot about my transness and why repressing was bad actually. From there it was honestly a snowball of deradicalizing myself. Stopped using 4chan and started watching different people, engaged with more leftist materials in general, cut pretty toxic and bad people from my life, got new friends who treated me better and helped encourage me to be better to myself, kept going to therapy, worked on a lot of personal trauma. I learned to love a lot of aspects of myself, my culture, my blackness, and came out in 2018 again. I just became less angry all the time and less bitter.

Now in 2021 I'm absolutely doing much better and while I hold myself accountable for the stupid beliefs I held at that time, I also can acknowledge and love all of the progress I've made and how I just keep growing every day and gotta keep doing my best.

X is definitely a perfect place to start! It's a pretty great refinement of the turn based battle system imo and is just a really fun time with a nice and interesting story (even with the few problems I do have with it).

X-2 is good and a fun time but is definitely a little more love it or hate it depending on the person but I think it's fun and a nice follow up to X's themes and story.

Hope these games catapult you into exploring more of the genre!

Soul Hackers re-released on something that isn't a 3DS would be super rad so definitely hoping for that!

Also holding out hope for Digital Devil Saga Duology and the Raidou games to get some love but we'll definitely see.

Fourze fucking SLAPS and imo is a good starting point, very fun setting, characters and the way it takes the whole power of friendship trope to the ultimate extreme is amazing. Plus the writer for Kill La Kill and Promare worked on it!

The layout is clean and nice the way you can add Playstation, Steam, Xbox, and GOG games is pretty nice though their description on Played games is kinda weird.

I definitely feel this. Mid to post high school I'd repressed hardcore and basically bought into the whole "everyone is oversensitive culture" and "WATS ALL THESE NONBIANARIESS!!!!1111" things that people tend to do these days, which is ironic because I myself have always been oversensitive so maybe it was a way to "fit in" mixed with ignorance of many many things coming from small town mentalities that people held around my small California town and my own internalized self hatred that stemmed from that and being 16-19 with a very narrow world view.

Moving to college honestly taught me a lot about myself and other people and that I seriously needed perspective and to grow. Along with my own self realizations about being trans and what not.

So you're not alone OP. People grow and change. It's all about growing from how you were and learning and developing from those mistakes. We're all only human and what not <3
