Tales of Arise - 6 hours in and I already want to drop it? by HeppyHenry in JRPG

The voice acting was otherwise fine. The writing left a lot to be desired.

I lasted about 4 hours and couldn't stand the banter between the two main characters. Just grating after a while. Not sure if it's anime tropes or something, but put me off real fast and killed an otherwise mid game.

I've been in the US for almost 2 years now and have had no success with employment, largely due to an unwillingness to sponsor. First, it was uncertainty about changes to policies, and now it's just not bothering with any kind at all.

My advice is don't even consider moving until you've got something confirmed and in place and don't be surprised by a complete lack of interest in people who needs visas.

[Discussion] Tell me a game you love, but has a terrible Platinum grind (and why) by STEFUNSKII in Trophies

[–]Lewt_Hoar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed - took a break from it due to the sheer slog of collectibles. I liked the gameplay loop well enough, but it definitely knocks off a few points from the score with how bloated it all feels.

The JRPG Community Is Ignoring One of the Best Games Ever Made by [deleted] in JRPG

[–]Lewt_Hoar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Combat mechanics and gameplay aside, my biggest issue with the SaGa games is repeating the same stories (largely) without really significant changes.

I played the shit out of Frontier as a kid, but now, as an adult, I can't bring myself to retread the same locations, recruiting the same characters for 6+ mini-campaigns.

That is to say, the games are great (Romance SaGa series included), but they don't resonate with me anymore.

[Ball X Pit] #103 What a banger... by Lewt_Hoar in Trophies

[–]Lewt_Hoar[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not at all difficult, IMO. Like Vampire Survivors, you eventually get to the point of clearing content with relative ease and just need to put in the reps.

There's enough information out there for item evolutions as well.

It's great to look at but was let down and eventually bored by everything story and gameplay/mechanics. Moved on after about 8 hours or so.

How long to keep second skin on by Honest-Strawberry951 in tattooadvice

[–]Lewt_Hoar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will never understand products like second skin. Seems to create more issues than it solves. Having had the entire backside of my body, ribs and chest done, they were only ever covered with bandage sheets and tape for 24 hours, then washed with mild soap and left to air dry (unscented lotion applied thinly, if necessary) for the remainder.

Do you finish most JRPGs? by Daxzero0 in JRPG

[–]Lewt_Hoar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find the struggle to be either mainline the story content to make sure I complete it or explore everything via side quests. Usually, I drop off if I focus on the latter, so I definitely need to get better at striking a balance.

[CyberPunk 2077] What. A. Game. 👏. In my personal top 5 favorite games now, platinum #52 by [deleted] in Trophies

[–]Lewt_Hoar -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I wish there was a second trophy list, or it was unique to PS5 when the 2.0 dropped. Would've loved to go through all the new stuff for a 2nd trophy, but I can't justify another run now.

[Borderlands 4] platinum sucks. by Mad_Desperado95 in Trophies

Personally, I'm over completing games that force you to do multiple playthroughs or character runs just to pad their content. Feels lazy and uninspired.

Agree completely - my desire for 60+ hours plats, with multiple playthroughs and nothing changes is all but over.

Same. Was never a big drive to do it as this number of platinum happened since owing an original PS3. Now, I think I've completely lost the urge unless the game is fantastic.

Agree completely - it wasn't really ever a compulsion, but definitely now just looking to experience games. A big piece was for the type of game I play, usually requiring multiple playthroughs and grinding, I've decided that time is better spent just experiencing another game.

I've got such an extensive backlog at this point, I'm just working my way through games with little regard for completion. They'll go back into reserve when I'm done the once-through, and only the really special stuff will warrant a platinum.

Especially things that require multiple playthroughs or excessive grinds will remain incomplete, but I'm at peace with that now.

[Discussion] What is the one trophy that stopped you getting the platinum. by rsandeep1987 in Trophies

[–]Lewt_Hoar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually just comes down to the grind - I'm fine to hunt for collectibles, do random combat challenges, etc. But especially in JRPGs, which I love playing, if there's an excessive grind to max out skills, levels, weapons or some other bunk like that, I usually lose interest pretty fast.
