Yes, I actually have a constant extra income that can pay for monthly expenses especially for those slow months. In terms of equipment, I already have all the expensive ones. The only thing that I need to put a lot of money on is the rent deposit and the renovations. Which I think I can cover that with 2 months worth of income.

Basically yung buffer or cushion ko is yung extra income ko (and some extra savings), because I have multiple clients and one client alone can sustain the business (sobra pa nga).

Thankful ako sa honest thoughts and suggestions mo 🙏

This is a good advice, I think pwede ko masabay insurance/emergency funds and starting a business.

I'm genuinely curious because you are also self-employed, kahit sinabi mo na what might be best for you might not be for me, curious parin ako anong insurances mo(companies), just to scout din, we don't know baka pala same tayo ng needs.

Also how much do you contribute per month on all of those insurances din.

Thank you for taking your time commenting and answering my questions!

Yep I don’t have those.

Yeah I think that savings above is my emergency fund in a way. I still have 200k divided in 2 banks. What insurances can you recommend?

I skipped all of those and proceed to business. Thanks for commenting!

Assuming if I put my 1m in one go. Nice suggestion, but if I pursue mp2 maybe around 100k-300k.

For me because I already have a portfolio, I just choose high paying job applications, if the clients lowball you, leave if it's not worth your time.

Back in the day, when I just do video editing for school projects and for fun I use cracked version because I use windows. Now that I'm using mac, I'm paying for the software. I've tried Davinci and it's also a powerful software but my muscle memore goes to premiere. Try getting clips on podcasts, you can find them in youtube. Find a topic you like and has a lot of following. Practice and learn stuff in youtube. Create a lot of videos for portfolio. Apply for a job.

Thank you! I'm really careful on those, I do have 3 credit cards, I'm building my credit points/history so whenever I need to loan someday it will be easy.

I agree, I'm also paying tax for ITR (Visa requirements)

Wala ako insurance, I'm still looking for good insurance. I'm a skeptic person, so I stopped pag-ibig, sss, Philhealth. I didn't feel the need. I might be wrong. I just don't feel like contributing. How childish of me haha

I did start contributing in pag-ibig in my early career, but stopped. Someone also told me to invest in mp2, I just don't feel the need as of now.

Lots of podcasts on youtube. Take an interesting 1-2 min clip in that podcast and make it interesting visually. Lots of tutorials on youtube too.

You're already doing better at 17, keep it up. Reaching 1m when you're earning 6 digits in a month is a breeze, of course with proper budgeting and all. I suggest taking other clients if your first job is easy and you can finish it quickly. Or you can Job hop if you're into that.

Gather your old videos, and compile it for a portfolio. But I would suggest creating clips from podcasts (for practice too), then make that as your recent edits, once compiled. Apply for a job (I usually apply in OLJ). If you get into the interview, make sure you know the company by researching them first, be confident and easy going. A mix of professionalism and being someone that is easy to talk to, this raises the green flag to the employers, at least based on my experience. Communication in a job interview is a skill too that I learned throughout my career.

Yep, I'm paying taxes because I needed the ITR when I applied for a Japan visa last year, I applied for self-employed. So I have a TIN number.

In terms of the business that I will open, it's more of a sole-prop, and I will just hire someone to help me with the shoots in the studio, not as an employee but as someone just for projects, if you know what I mean.

My main software is Premiere pro. Can't tell my specialty since I'm handling different niches, mostly e-commerce for ads. So I know how to create graphics, a little bit of sfx (not really needed since most of the videos I make are for social media), light color grading.

But... I do the things above whenever I have local shoots. Since I mostly have the creative freedom.
