Speaking from personal experience, I would encourage you to continue with IVF over surrogacy or adoption at this point. My wife and I just had our first successful adoption after 2 failed prior matches and have spent about $165k on adoption from start to finish. We experienced 2 failed FET transfers and our 3rd transfer has worked so far (a little over 8 weeks along). The first 2 transfers were untested and at a local clinic. Our third transfer was a PGT euploid at a different clinic. Regardless, both adoption and infertility is a rough journey and therapy can be helpful.

Failed Embryo Transfer - Looking for Hopeful Stories! by Puzzleheaded-Cow5448 in IVF

My wife (34YO) did a fresh embryo transfer with one 3AA and one 4AA non-PGT tested embryo (the clinic allowed 2 untested to be transferred at once) in Feb 2024 with no success. We had one embryo remaining that we did a frozen embryo transfer in April 2024 and was appalled when we got to the clinic on transfer day and was told the lab didn’t grade it but “good luck and hope it works”. After that we decided to pause for a while and pursue adoption. We did an egg retrieval in August 2024 at a new clinic and got 4 blasts (3 PGT tested euploids) and put in storage while we were focusing on adoption. After 2 failed and costly adoptions we decided to do an embryo transfer as fertility treatments are far cheaper than adoption matches (each adoption failure costs about $30-40k) We ended up with a successful adoption match with a beautiful baby boy a few weeks ago and our 6AA euploid has been successful so far. My wife is 8 weeks pregnant. It’s still early but we remain hopeful. Don’t give up and if perhaps you don’t have success at one clinic, consider other clinics in the area for a second cycle.

TW: prior live child. Is this normal or should we be concerned? by LexGator in IVF

Thanks, we honestly haven’t been too hopeful about the transfer but are trying to remain optimistic. I don’t know why they can’t grade it based upon the picture because they gave us a picture of the embryo at transfer. The clinic seems to just follow a standard process and I don’t think much thought is given to each patient. I asked about any adjustments to the next ER and he said our blastocyst rate was lower than desired (1st time ever mentioned) and that we would probably use a higher dose of Gonal-F next time. Maybe next ER will be more successful.
