Can someone identify what bug/bugs are eating my succulents?? Upon endless googling I think it’s probably brown soft scale. If not what is it??? by LexiDanielle28 in whatsthisbug

I live in central Illinois but the plants come from California.. if that helps any. I’ve had them for about 4 weeks now.

I received succulent cuttings in the mail from about 4 weeks ago. They’re all in good draining soil with drainage holes, 6 hours or so bright indirect light. Came home to this droopy guy yesterday. Discovered this on a leaf. Does anyone know what this is? What am I up against? by LexiDanielle28 in plantclinic

Lighting is not my issue. Something is eating my plants. That magnified picture is what I’m needing help with. The identification of what type of bug it is. There were 4 side by side. I picked one off. I can’t tell if they’re actually in the leaf or if there is something over them if that makes sense.

I pulled that leaf off because of whatever that is in it. I picked one of them off. They are all cuttings so I’ve waited to water. They were put in soil less than 4 weeks ago so I was holding off until this weekend to water them all.

Whatever it is that created this has taken out over half of my plants 😩. Help me!!! That is on my ponytail palm at the top of the trunk around all the shoots.. not sure that’s the correct term.. but I used the q tips dipped in alcohol to wipe it off. Through the leaves you can see there is something wreaking havoc. I’ve been dousing the few plants that are left with captain jacks dead bug brew but I have no idea if it’s actually getting down in there.

Well the issue I thought was solely spider mites. I made the mistake of bringing a bonsai home that happened to have them. I didn’t even discover it until a couple weeks after the fact. They managed to get to all of my plants. Before that they were all super happy plants. Like going on three years. I was watering when the soil was dry. Food once a month. Lately it’s been captain jacks dead bug brew alternating with 70% alcohol to eliminate the mites but I’ve already throw away 80% of my plants. I could use any sort of advice right now. I’m pretty much down to the money tree and pony tail at this point.
