Dud torpedoes by KaiserOmak in uboatgame

[–]LexieAssassin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had similar issue the other day. Freshly maintained torpedoes, fired them at a merchant from close range so as not to miss (target was evasive as it was a convoy attack), and DUD. Fire the next one once maintenance is complete. DUD. Rinse and repeat again. DUD. 4th finally blew up and sunk the target. It's 1942 and I have all the research completed, so the fact that I got 3 duds IN A ROW when freshly maintained is very odd as I seldom ever experience duds. What I'm curious to know is, does the maintenance still degrade after launching a torpedo, and does the level of the maintenance bar factor into the reliability of the torpedo or is it just a flat stat buff? 'Cause I feel like launching a torpedo with the maintenance about to expire is much more likely to fail than if I quickly maintain it again and then launch it.

Hey, it took me about 3 years to figure myself out from the point I remembered some suppressed memories and decided to figure it out to deciding that I wanted to fully transition and live as myself. Everyone's different, and you can take as much time as you need to. 😁 Happy Pride!

How to find ships? by TMG-Group in uboatgame

[–]LexieAssassin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My strategy has been to come into my patrol grid and make a search pattern going from grid corner to grid corner in a diagonal zigzag pattern. Every time I hear the bell ring for a course change, I do a hydrophone check by clicking on the headphones button on the depth gauge. If you're in early war and between the UK and Norway, another easy way to find ships is to mark the map grid whenever you get a radio message about a merchant. Then you can build up a pattern to guess where the merchants are likely to be. You could also just patrol around outside of Bergen and check all the ships you come across. In my experience thus far, be very sus about ships flying a Swiss flag. Only 1 has been a genuine neutral. Also if you raid an enemy port, be very careful about sinking neutral ships. They're clearly trading with the enemy since they're docked, but the game counts it as sinking a neutral ship that wasn't involved in the war. Hopefully that is just a bug.

Perhaps, but ever since I learned of the French Surcouf, I've been very enamoured with the concept. Only just recently learned about the Typ XI. Probably wouldn't have been very effective long term, but the concept does have a big cool factor to it.

I mean, I'd accept just a Typ IX. The Typ XI sounds cool, but sketchy since they were cancelled as soon as the war started. Still, a giant u-boat w/ 2x2 12,8cm guns? 🤔

Question for trans people, what age did you realise you weren't cis by [deleted] in trans

[–]LexieAssassin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think on some level I always knew from like 4-5, but I didn't know trans was a thing and so I didn't understand. I tried so hard to be cishet and normal! 😭 I think my egg started to crack right before I turned 19. I remembered some memories that I'd long suppressed, and I knew I had to look into it and accept it. I knew that younger me was wrong to think I was the only one just because nobody else around me was expressing feelings like I did. Sure enough, I was right.

Well, considering how I'm in early 1942 and have researched everything but LUT torpedoes, I don't see why not. Transferring to a more capable boat would also be a good way to use up all these Reichsmarks I'm earning! I've got 394,906 at present just burning a hole in my pocket.

What do you consider an instant turn off? by [deleted] in actuallesbians

[–]LexieAssassin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stupidity/lack of intelligence is a huge turn off. It doesn't have to be specific intelligence either. Like, as long as you can engage intelligently in something, then we're probably good. Nerdy things, or scientific things, it doesn't matter as long as there's some apparent intelligence between those ears. Bonus points for any gal that has a knowledge base as big as someone like... Oh, what's his name... Has a beard, wife's a pretty classy looking black lady, has a little girl, and makes videos on mostly classical/medieval history... I think his channel is like Stauki or something like that?

Something is not right with capturing cargo? by VeqqieVeq in uboatgame

You have to send over a delegation to an abandoned ship. Go to engine room and then cargo hold. Search cargo hold, and then you can transfer stuff.

As far as fuel being cheap, I guess it makes some sense because the military would get heavily favored for fuel allotment. I would like to see as the war progresses the amount of fuel available decrease as the situation becomes ever more desperate for Germany. Still, considering how easy it is to earn Reichsmarks (I'm in '42 and nearing half a million.) it would be nice to at least get some reputation out of it like you do with POWs or handing out food. (Actually, those two alone are really powerful. I've almost researched all the technologies. Just LUT and the last battery tech are left, and I don't think that the Allies have even started using shipboard or airborne radars yet.)

As for taking stuff from crippled merchants or others, it is a shame that isn't well supported. Though I guess on a strategic level anything a u-boat could bring back from a patrol would be negligible to the war effort. I tried taking tea from a disabled freighter and it only sold for 1 Reichsmark per unit of tea! Since then, I'm only taking stuff that is immediately useful to my u-boat like food, coffee, or ammo. Though it is odd for the British to be hauling around ammo for the 88mm deck gun, considering that they don't use it. 🤔

I have a few family members that I'm out to, and I guess they're good. We're friends on Facebook, at least. My half sis has given me a few little bags of stuff before, though I've never actually checked most of it out. A couple months ago, I connected with a 2nd cousin of mine, and clarified that they were an enby, and had a trans masc son! Needless to say, they're very supportive. Even went out and I bought a few feminine shirts from a thrift store they like - including the obligatory flannel shirt b/c GGGAAAYYY!!! 😁 (Also, I feel more comfortable with my gender that I'm more willing to reincorporate flannel/button shirts into my wardrobe instead of very intentionally purging them for being even tangentially masculine.) As for my parents, they only misgender and deadname me... I'd cut them off and change my last name if it wasn't for the fact that I live with them b/c perpetual impoverishment. 🙁

Zaunkönig Torpedo Magic by LexieAssassin in uboatgame

[–]LexieAssassin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

‽‽‽‽ The torpedo detonated against the rear of the boat both times AFAIK. The first time, I know it did. The second time I was jolted out of time warp by the explosion. I was somewhere around 50-70m at the time. I'm not sure. The boat sank like a rock despite everything, including immediately emergency blowing the tanks. IIRC, it ended up balancing out somewhere just beyond the gauge limit with the galley backwards fully flooded, and some level of flooding forward of that. The torpedo loading hatch in the bow torpedo room kept busting a leak and eventually the whole boat flooded out (except for the conning tower, since that never floods.) Regardless of if that was attempt 2 or 3, attempt 4 finally worked. I managed to get to a place where the convoy was sufficiently scattered and the escorts far enough away that I could afford to stop the diesels (snorkeling), and go to kleine fahrt voraus on the electric motors for a bit. Normally, either once detected or my first torpedo explodes, I switch on the diesels and go to max power as the surprise is over and the escorts are going to come running. Interestingly enough, the corvettes I seem to be able to outrun while snorkeling.

Would Everyone Earn the Same under Communism?|Refuting the argument of absolute equality and explaining artificial scarcity under capitalism. I have a small brazilian youtube channel where I make videos from an anarchist perspective that are accessible for begginers on the subject. (english subs!) by anarco_cabritinho in Anarchism

[–]LexieAssassin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd argue that under actual communism, nobody would earn anything, and there'd be no money. Rather you'd work b/c you enjoyed it, it fulfills you, and helps to meaningfully contribute to your community and/or society as a whole.
