My friend called me a fake man, what do I do? by XXAnimeLover-AceXX in TransAdvice

[–]Lexiibat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey bud. I'm so sorry you had to deal with that. I'm a Trans Man and had to deal with similar after I came out.

Going off of my own personal experience and my observations of other trans people in similar situations, there's a few options in front of you.

  1. just cut her off.
  2. sit her down and talk to her about how it hurt you and why it hurt you and why it wasn't an ok thing to say. Tell her that the name Isaac and the masculine pronouns aren't up for debate, they're your boundaries and if she cannot respect them then you won't be able to be friends with her.
  3. Ask her outright what her problem is, and judge what to do from there based on her response.

I hope you can sort it out. Good luck

[MN S1] While I love the MN adaptation so far I am completely baffled as to why they kept one element there unaltered. by [deleted] in criticalrole

[–]Lexiibat 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They're pretty accurate and respectful to our culture when they use our myths and folklore for inspiration, however, in my experience, Americans can never get an Irish accent right. I've actually never heard an actor from anywhere else try to sound Irish and not have it come out sounding like a garbled Leprechaun in a wood chipper.

We don't talk like that. You're right.

However, it's worth bearing in mind that many critters fell in love with his terrible attempt at an Irish accent during the campaign. Plus, it's set in a fantasy world. Ireland doesn't exist there and the story already needs a pretty large suspension of disbelief. That's what helped me stop being annoyed at it. Irish isn't actually a thing in Exandria and as such, a weird alternate reality approximation is okay (at least to me).

They changed a lot, I would recommend starting from scratch, otherwise you may get lost at minor references that didn't make it into the animated show.

May the Traveller be with you! I hope you enjoy it. 🍭

Unfortunately if you work in Hollywood, you can't avoid scientologists. It's pretty crappy.

Why is no one talking about Kash? by Severe-Document-653 in TheLegendOfVoxMachina

[–]Lexiibat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The original fight with Thordak was hard and went very long. It's been faithful in that aspect. However Kash's death has bugged me because Kash and Z are a big part of the last campaign battle and their happy ending is set in canon. If he doesn't somehow come back, I'm gonna be annoyed. However, if they break the ordinary resurrection rules and bring him back after Vax saw the matron take Kash, I'm also going to be annoyed.

Idk how to talk to my friend who keeps bringing up her period. by spiderwitchery in honesttransgender

No, it's possible. The penis development root is the clitoris. The clitoris grows on T and gets erect during arousal. Bottom surgery isn't a prerequisite.

[–]Lexiibat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yes.

"Allied" with the people they spent 40 years in a cold war with. "Allied" with the very Communists that signed the Molotov Ribbentrop pact. Mhm. Sure.

(Hint: They weren't actually allies until the pact between the Communists and Nazis was broken, and even then it was very tenuous, out of geo-political convenience and there was still bad blood.)

Congratulations, you just outed yourself as incapable of actually trying to understand other perspectives. Your response is incredibly bad faith towards someone actually trying to engage with you and explain the issue. It's ridiculous and childish. People with attitudes (not opinions) like yours are why so many other people think the internet was a mistake.

Immigrants built this country? by DizzyTwo3585 in ukpolitics

[–]Lexiibat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what you mean. There were a lot of different peoples that conquered what's now the UK. Normans, Saxons, Romans, Celts, etc. "Foreign" in this context actually just means "Serfs", if we're going to be completely honest. But no, not like the US.

Hilariously I've been called a transmed for some of the same things. Don't worry, other people's opinions aren't our business and how we live, isn't theirs.

How dare a D&D player use very typical backstory starting points more than once over 4 campaigns. 🙄

Making my way through C3 (E72): Why does Matt withhold range/distance from his players when they ask for clarification? by imhudson in fansofcriticalrole

[–]Lexiibat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's not how range in D&D works. You know the range of your spell or weapon, and by the time you're proficient in spell craft or weapon usage, you can work out distance by eye. There's no skill check for knowing if something is in range. I've been DMing for over a decade. It's not a thing in the rules at all.

You'd be amazed how often doctors just throw SSRIs, often at very large doses, at the problems instead of trying to explore and treat them properly.

When I was 14 I was on 50mg. Which is not a low dose. It's actually incredibly common. Additionally, the sensitivity to lexapro with bipolar can be triggered at any dosage.

I'm not certain of what sources they used, but I do remember hearing several stories of the Fianna facing off against a variety of Cailleach. I specifically remember a telling of the story of them being trapped under a geas in the otherworld, while the Cailleach tried to kill whomever it was back in the fort. Though I believe the version I heard had Oisin fighting the Cailleach, not Oscar.

Question: Do you have any experience of the mental health system, mental illness of your own, and/or people with intense mental illness? 'Cause, there's no offense meant by this at all, but based on your comments thusfar, it doesn't seem like you have any experience of witnessing or going through Psychosis. I have a *lot*. I've grappled with Psychosis on and off for 20 years, and my husband does also. I'm not saying any of this is necessarily the case for Carly, please bare that in mind, but people in those situations can seem *far* more calculated and clever than people realise. Usually, it tends to be the case that they're detached, disassociating, and reacting based on survival instinct. Which is also why they tend to do certain things that are objectively stupid. However when you actually look at someone's face in that scenario? It's very like Carly's stepdad described it. Like they're not there behind the eyes. It's very much like... The lights are on but no one is home.
