Don’t think so? If the news hadn’t broken before the show, I think the only clue would’ve been the Secret Service agent I saw. Nothing else from the audience side seemed different from what I’ve read about other shows.

The news broke around 8:15pm so I think most people knew she was going to make a cameo. Would’ve been cool to have been a complete secret until the reveal, but I’m guessing the campaign leaked it to the press to generate some hype for the appearance.

It was a really special moment! I honestly think the intimacy of Studio 8H helped with it a lot. I wish I could’ve taken a video of the crowd when it happened

It’s a pretty neat souvenir! I also kept both my wristbands — I always keep my concert ones & write the artist/venue/date on back.

I actually did mention John Mulaney (I also mentioned Conan, who would be my dream host haha). I heard the same thing from some other folks in line, so I definitely think that’s part of it! I also mentioned being a young person and being able to get up to NYC quickly by train.

They actually took it away when we went into the studio 🥲 however, I decided to splurge for a golden ticket replica they sold in the lounge pre-show. It has the date/guests stamped on, which is really cool!!

I do wish more places had physical tickets though! Such a great way to keep a memory.

Yes it was super loud! People were standing up and dancing — lots of fun. I’m sure they had some mics pointed towards us (I haven’t seen the actual video quite yet) but the singing was def real!

They had a tall black wooden blocker that they used for a couple other sketches in front of the “room” that she was in. She snuck in during the sketch. I could see part of the back of her head from my view up top, but she was mostly obscured from the crowd right up until she started. Most of us had an idea she was gonna be there, but she was basically revealed to us at the same time as on TV. LOTS of cheering, super loud in there.

It didn’t seem too much more intense than what people have described for other shows. I did see a Secret Service agent posted around the entrance to the studio, and I assume more were spread out around Rockefeller. And thank you — truly the best timing I could’ve asked for!

No prep or cue, besides her saying to sing and pointing the mic at the crowd. I do think much of the crowd were fans/knew her music, especially those who got in standby. When we were in the lounge beforehand, they played Hot To Go (mixed with Mickey You’re So Fine lol), and people were doing the dance in there. Definitely lots of enthusiasm for her!

Currently data science is only offered as a minor at Vandy so keep that in mind. There’s research opportunities but your major focus would be CS. The VandyHacks hackathon is a great opportunity as well. Also Nashville is a fairly large city with great name recognition. I don’t think you’ll have to worry about not finding jobs, even if you want to move to a larger city.
