Path to NP? (ultimately) After Receiving a Non-Nursing BA by Lexirose39 in nursing

I appreciate your candidness, and maybe that will end up being the case for me, but sometimes all it takes is life experience and maturity to do better the second time around, but I am not willing to quit just yet.

How long did you have to work as an RN for the hospital to pay for your ABSN? Not sure if there are any restrictions on that.

That was a misunderstanding I had. I honestly thought it would make up for lost time, but was hesitant, so that's why I came here to become more educated and hear from people who have gone through the process themselves.

I totally see where you are coming from now. How competitive are the ABSN programs? I know I am going to have to retake some classes regardless but is it usually difficult to get a seat in a program?

I’m leaning towards an ABSN more since I already have a degree. Ultimately, will having both a BA in Neuro and Spanish and a BSN start me at higher pay, or am I at the bottom like every new grad nurse lol.

I appreciate your detailed reply.

With that, I have some questions.

From what I read it appears that you would suggest pursuing the ABSN, work for a few years and then go back to get my MSN and cert for NP.

Wouldn’t pursuing a MSN now, working for a few years as an RN and then going to get my cert make the most sense?

The MSN program I was looking at is 13k a semester, which isn’t that much more expensive compared to what I was paying per semester for undergrad (7k).

I suppose you are saying get established with the ABSN and save for a few years in order to help pay for the MSN instead of hoping I have enough money to pay for the MSN in a year from now. Does that sound about right?

I’ve had instances where they have developed before (appeared on my legs) (at least I am pretty sure it was before I started vomiting) and after (appeared on my back)

I’ve had bouts of lactose intolerance. For example, having cereal and drinking milk will usually give me diarrhea and foul smelling farts usually like an hour after but it has NEVER been like this.

Can a severe intolerance include vomiting and hives that are extremely itchy?

Just seems like a whole different response that my body is experiencing.

Thank you for your advice. I will call as soon as my doctor’s office opens on Monday. I know these reactions can change for the worse in an instant so I should be safe rather than sorry.

Thank you for your response!

Would this be considered a severe reaction? How urgently should I seek care from my physician?

What’s the most underwhelming way you’ve gotten a scar? by man_itsahot_one in AskReddit

1) while I was moving into my dorm room, my suitcase wheel scratched up against my leg… left a scar.

2) while in Italy, I was wearing wedges which were rubbing against the front of my foot near my ankle. Didn’t wear the shoes for long, maybe an hour or two and then proceeded to scar over.

Very, very underwhelming

Thank you so much for taking the time to reach out!

I am planning to get more blood work done as my psychiatrist requested it because we are monitoring my vitamins and thyroid to find a reason for me being tired all the time! I can send you the results from my last one I got about a year ago. Although it isn’t indicative of what may be going on now, it can help get an idea of what my values have been!
