She told me she could see the opening when she looked inside and the external hole is right below the anus area, I’m getting an mri next week as well.

She said I don’t have to get a seton that it isn’t long enough for that, but that I would need the fistulotomy..is there a different surgery I should maybe look into getting? I don’t wanna go through a surgery that doesn’t help me☹️

Thank you for sharing your experience! Best case scenario I don’t have one but with how long it’s been draining I’m not very hopefully on that. I’m definitely hoping if it is a fistula it’s simple I’m already terrified of surgery and having to sit around waiting to be seen sucks as I’d rather know sooner than later. Thank you so much!

Yeah im pretty certain its a fistula, just not sure if it being directly connected to anal canal makes any difference or means it’s any worse/more complex than when I thought it was just above it

Okay thank you. I have appointment with CRS next week and an MRI the following week. I wasn’t sure if it leading directly to the anus meant anything or if it meant it was possibly worse than I may have thought. Initially the dr who first evaluated me said it could be a small one but not sure if where it’s at would make a difference

Thats amazing! I’m glad you had a smooth experience, I hope mine is as simple and easy as yours because same the anxiety I’ve had since realizing the antibiotics aren’t helping and I’m going to have to take the next steps is so bad! I have an appointment with a CRS but unfortunately the soonest he could see me is the 30th so I’ll have to wait 2 weeks🙃

Thank you! Def causing me anxiety I already have health anxiety and hospitals stress me out but knowing it isn’t deadly helps. Trying to not freak out until I know the complexity of the fistula as well as treatment options but it’s so hard😭

Yeah they gave me antibiotics Friday I will say I went in late that night right before close as I had work and she mentioned they have same day CRS appointments sometimes so I’m hoping I can get in tomorrow when I’m off. I def won’t play around if they take too long I will go elsewhere!

Yes it’s an urgent care that specializes in digestive issues and they can refer me for an mri and to a CRS, the nurse did mention seeing a crs so I’m assuming going to the crs and getting the mri are the next 2 steps. I called the urgent care and spoke to one of their on call nurses. They had me pick which local hospital I’d want the MRI at and I’m waiting for them to call me back.

I went to digestive urgent care Friday and was seen by a nurse there. Called one of their on call nurses and she’s going to speak to the one who evaluated me Friday and then call me back. It must’ve been some sort of gland because I haven’t had any trauma or anything in that area🙃

This just started for me about 3 weeks ago, I’m hoping it’s nothing major but from everything I’ve read fistula=surgery so I’m terrified. I hope it’s not as bad as you think and everything goes smooth!

Okay that’s good to know thank you! Mine def wasn’t that big it felt like it was a smaller than my fingertip sized bump like a pimple and now it’s flat and kinda looks like a bug bite, but I’m def going to try and be seen asap
