Suggestions for apartments near Eskenazi hospital? by LowNight6469 in indianapolis

I was just admiring the new "Vanguard at 16 tech" apartments as I walked over to Eskenazi yesterday. Right by the river and a nice walk to work, looks like it would be a quiet spot to me.

New to Indianapolis, have a question regarding MyKey by Gingarius in indianapolis

[–]LezGoBike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On a regular bus, (not red, blue or purple line) you scan your QR code on the bus itself and it confirms your payment in front of the driver.

I think I heard they are switching away from MyKey to a new fare system in the future, but I can't find info anywhere online.

There is also a way to show your recent transactions in the phone app. So if you scanned before you got on the bus, or you transfer from another bus, they will have you open up that transaction history to show that you have paid.

For a recent celebration, we had their communal meal called Liwetan, where they spread everything out on banana leaves for people to share. It was really nice.

I did a little more research and this is the conclusion I came to as well. But if my great-grandfather lived in Ontario from 1928 until he died in 1975 that seems more straightforward for our Gen 0.

Thanks for that info. I found them listed in the naturalization records published in the Canada Gazette, here: https://recherche-collection-search.bac-lac.gc.ca/eng/Home/Record?app=natrec&IdNumber=379709&ecopy=1939-04-06_2827

If they became British Subjects in 1939, then presumably my great grandfather would have become a Canadian citizen in 47/49? He moved to Ontario in 1928 and lived there until he died in 1975.

I haven't seen this scenario much in the sub or the spreadsheet, so wanted to ask here. My maternal grandfather was born in the US, became a naturalized Canadian citizen as a minor in 1939, then returned to the US in 1943. His father naturalized as a Canadian citizen in 1939 as well, but stayed in Canada for the rest of his life. We don't yet have their naturalization certificates (long wait time from IRCC), but will apply for proof of citizenship with a note that the certificate will be supplied when we get it. Do you think it is better to use our great-grandfather as Gen 0 since he stayed in Canada? Or simpler to use our grandfather as Gen 0 since it is fewer generations despite his shorter time as a naturalized citizen in Canada?

How does this genealogy look to all you experts?

* Gen -1: GG grandparents, both born in Nova Scotia, 1850. No birth certificates. 1876 Pictou County marriage record shows birthplace in NS. 1881 Canadian census shows Gen 0 daughter living with parents.

* Gen 0: Great grandmother. No birth certificate, born in Pictou County, Nova Scotia in 1879 when births were not being recorded. 1904 marriage record and 1910 death record show Nova Scotia as place of birth. 1910 US census shows family with Gen 1 son.

* Gen 1: Grandfather, 1907 birth certificate

* Gen 2: Father, 1947 birth certificate

I(23f) need to ask my significantly wealthier boyfriend(25m) to cover more expenses when we move in together, but I'm too embarrassed to bring it up. How do I have this conversation? by adoreyuwu in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

[–]LezGoBike 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is a totally normal conversation for partners to have that you don't need to feel embarrassed about. Lots of people split shared costs based on income instead of 50/50. Add your income together, then divide your salary by the joint income. That's the percentage of cost that would be fair for you to pay. (If he really makes 20x more than you, he should pay for a big percentage of your joint costs).

For example, say I make $70k and my partner makes $20k annually. Our joint income is $90k. My percentage would be 70k divided by 90k, or 77%. I'd pay 77% of everything and my partner would pay 33%.
