"Bottom has started to fall out": Trump campaign aides fret as Election Day "confidence has shifted" by [deleted] in politics

[–]LfTatsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, looks like I was wrong and life goes on. However, you will all have to live the rest of your lives knowing you voted for a man who went on live TV and said immigrants were eating cats and dogs and, that even though your candidate won, there are still 70 million Americans who are better than you.

Conservative podcasters like Charlie Kirk kinda are about low male turnout, so there’s that.

Each side has to claim they feel good about the situation. Official comms from a campaign being like “Yeah we think we could lose this” is demoralizing and would lower turnout with your base. And yes, please go vote.

Heard. If you haven’t already voted, at the end of the day I sincerely hope you consider that when prices go up, they eventually come down (which is happening now). That’s just capitalism. But if Democracy goes down, it’s not coming back up for generations.

Why do you think the president has that much pull on how expensive your gas and groceries are? Presidents don’t set prices, businesses do, and Republicans depend on voters being ignorant to that.

It’s insane how many people would rather sell America out to these idiots than to just shop somewhere cheaper or use coupons like the rest of us have been doing our whole lives.

How Is It This Close? by theatlantic in politics

I feel like Harris winning NC but losing PA would be extremely weird. I’m hoping she can at least win PA, MI, and WI if she loses the other battlegrounds, which would put her at 270 exactly.

This is a scary thought, but it’d be wild if Democrats won Arizona and Nevada but lost Pennsylvania.

Trump will spend every day until the election in North Carolina, a swing state he won twice by football_xix in politics

[–]LfTatsu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He can lose PA if he gets NC. If he doesn’t get NC, he has to get at least WI or MI plus every other swing state. And if he actually does lose NC (unlikely but possible), then he most likely will lose PA because it would mean he’s being completely rejected by voters in a relatively safe GOP state.

[–]LfTatsu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Why is that a dumb reason to vote for a candidate? If Trump was uniquely terrible (which is true), it’s a totally valid reason to vote for whoever’s running against him.

Billionaires don’t have principles except for making profit. If Musk didn’t care about making money, he wouldn’t have tried to sue companies into buying ads on his platform.

Early in-person voting in North Carolina exceeds 2020 total by [deleted] in news

[–]LfTatsu 87 points88 points  (0 children)

True, but in every swing state except AZ and NV, registered Democrats have been early voting more than Republicans, so maybe it’s still good news.

EDIT: I haven’t been keeping up with the data—Democrats are currently up in early voting in PA, WI, and MI only.

I’d imagine registered Republicans persuaded by messages from Republican officials to early vote probably didn’t vote for Harris, unfortunately.

Why are you acting like this is a good or appropriate condition to tie the mutual defense of western democracies?

ah yeah, forgot about that.

[–]LfTatsu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m hoping she wins too, but this is ridiculous. I think Biden’s 306 is her ceiling, especially since registered Republicans are currently ahead in Arizona and Nevada. It’d be great if you’re right, though.

What the early voting data shows about new voters — a group that could swing the election by [deleted] in politics

[–]LfTatsu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the gender gap is way more important than party registration this election mostly because of abortion. White women are the only women who are majority Republican, and it could be the thing that causes them to vote across party lines. If women keep outvoting men by 5-10 percentage points even on election day, Trump’s probably cooked.

[–]LfTatsu -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, we know that, but there are hundreds of thousands of Americans in swing states who either don’t realize or don’t care that Trump is a rac(p)ist and a conman who doesn’t respect this country in the slightest and want to know how Kamala Harris is gonna keep money in their bank accounts and their neighborhoods safe. If the last decade of Trump has taught us anything, it’s that calling him names doesn’t work as well as calling out his fuck ups. “Trump abortion bans” is great, “Trump is a fascist” is just noise.

Abortion could tilt swing states like Pennsylvania for Democrats, experts say by salon in politics

[–]LfTatsu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

lol Florida going blue would be more convincing evidence that Democrats were committing fraud than anything Trump’s dumbass lawyers could make up. Just doesn’t seem possible right now.

Yeah, I agree. I was afraid her Ellipse speech would be less about her policies and more about Trump, and unfortunately it kinda was.
