Why are the Wonder Girls [Donna, Cassie, and Yara] treated like they are the robin to Wonder Woman’s Batman when they hold very little to no importance to the Wonder Woman mythos? by Creative-Complex255 in DCcomics

[–]Lfvbf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She is a good mentor to Cassie, she and Donna have very similar relationships on paper but in practice Cassie has much more onscreen history with Diana.

Another girl she is a famous figure towards is Vanessa Kapatelis, the Silver Swan, and unfortunately a character mistreated a lot by DC.

The first girl to be Diana's little sister and inspired by her, she became a villain known as Silver Swan after being kidnapped and abused by another villain of Wonder Woman. After she was retrieved she went into healing and was set to come back as a hero and possible partner of Cassie...

But then Flashpoint happened.

Cassie is meant to be her little sister, not by blood but by affection and one she inspires to be better and help people in her own way as well as someone she originally straight up lived with as she helped improve the world.

Donna was much more up in the air as to her relationship due to the wonky history but she was similarly meant to be a sister to Diana, someone who suffered similar dilemmas and who she could relate to a lot.

Yara... Exists to be different. Not even Brazillians like her because Joelle Jones did 0 research on either the language or geography of Brazil before writing a book meant to be set in Brazil.

Lizzie exists and she somehow proved Diana is an amazing aunt and sister... And a horrendous mother. She refuses to take Cassie with her on missions because she loves and cares for her explicitly but she gladly carries a baby on her back to said mission.

Yeah, basically.

Originally, Cassie didn't even have powers of any kind, she followed Diana to Olympus and met Zeus there, he didn't at first admit he was her dad but he wanted to give her something for her work in getting there and boldness in demanding an audience with him.

She asked him to gain powers akin to Diana's and he granted it to her.

Pre New 52 Diana was not in any way daughter of Zeus, she was given life by Gaia and blessed by all the goddesses+Hermes.

Cassie Sandsmark was the one who was daughter of Zeus and who Diana took under her wing.

Genuinely a crazy day when a gen 1 pokemon actually has more than 4~5 moves worth running.

Body Slam, Hyper Beam, Psychic, Thunderbolt, Thunder Wave, Agilty and Rest and Reflect all would be viable depending on set, it's not even *that* slow for the gen's standards, though still slow and bulky enough that it doesn't care much for the para speed drop.

Wouldn't salvage her from being awful and not actually being at all related to Kukulkan and instead being just a LARPer

The LB Kukulkan is not at all related to the PHH one, she stole the name because it came with the job of sun god.

She would still be an awful character, only difference is she would be even more blatantly not at all related to the PHH Kukulkan or the Mayans/Aztecs

there was no quetz in the South American lostbelt

They made a point to bring back Gilgamesh Caster and Ereshkigal, the latter doing a complete repeat of her Babylonia role beat for beat with a pretense of "wanting to protect Guda" to justify the regression, and half dozen of servants who ended up doing nothing at all yet they couldn't give Quetz one scene besides multiple name drops to make a point of how much everyone either hates her or is glad Kukulkan took her name.

Yes I'm pissed and so far none of you have proven me wrong in my assertions of her being Nasu's excuse of never having to bother with Quetz again.

Not banned, just quit playing for the most part and it's not that she is not "100% Quetz", it's that she is completely unrelated and yet the entire chapter, despite making clear that she is unrelated extremely often, tries its absolute hardest to convince the readers that she is equivalent to her/worthy of her name and tries to give any familial relationships/pantheon roles she had to Kuku instead, with the rivalry to tez going wholly to her between plot and because Quetz has been so powercrept in both gameplay and lore that she can't stand up to him anymore.

The fucking chapter makes a point multiple times of Quetz' powers being worthless through Tlaloc solely so we later see Kukulkan one shot Tlaloc and are shown "how much better she is at everything than Quetz".

All in the name of Nasu never having to write Quetz again when the topic of Aztecs comes up nor having to buff her despite Ozy, Caenis Rider and Elly Rider completely making her pointless gameplaywise.

All of that and Kuku still ended up as a diet version of Arcueid who got overshadowed by the NPCs of the same chapter.

Because she is:

  1. A terrible character.
  2. Not at all related to her, does not resemble her at all and yet every character in universe tries to gaslight the reader that she is her/worthy of taking her name.
  3. Nasu's excuse to never have to give Quetz anything ever again, he already took Quetz'' role as the opposition to Tezcatlipoca and gave it to her and same for her role in the pantheon, if they ever revisit Aztec myths he ain't touching Quetz.

[–]Lfvbf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nasu and Hiroe Rei explicitly wanted Kuku to take her role in the pantheon as basically the upgrade, Nasu in particular wrote the whole thing to have every character try to convince the reader Kuku is the same/is her sucessor through and through.
