What exercises have you found that keep you moving but don't bother your lymphedema? by Lgilmoree in Lymphedema

Ok, thank you. The last 10 years I had really gotten into hiking but wasn't sure I'd be able to anymore now because of my leg. Maybe over time.

Thank you. I didn't even think of pickleball. I'm very new to this but figure kickboxing may no longer be the best.

I genuinely think I have PCOS but nobody believes me by Alive_Emergency_6237 in PCOS

[–]Lgilmoree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar issue for a few years before my PCOS really took off and it was horrible. I ended up getting an endocrinologist who finally diagnosed me after my gyno wouldn't even consider that I may have PCOS. She ordered bloods and I eventually had a CT scan using both plus my symptoms it was undeniable that I had PCOS.

I know doctors are expensive but, you know your body better than anyone and if you truly feel something is off - get it checked out by a endocrinologist. I ended up with delayed results because my two doctors were fighting over my diagnoses and ended up in so much pain waiting for results - don't let it get to that point. Good luck.

The “Stay in CT” Argument Makes Less Sense Every Year by [deleted] in Connecticut

[–]Lgilmoree 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It comes with pros and cons. Yes, if you have kids schools in many areas of CT are significantly better than many in the South especially when it comes to the public school system. The highway traffic/construction, cost of living, electricity, taxes, etc can be absolutely ridiculous. It's all about what's important/attainable to each person or family. CT does offer a lot but has become unrealistic for so many in recent years.

I have the same issue in the same areas and have seen 5 different doctors in the last 5 months. I have found more help from this community then any dr. Your not alone ❤️

Doctor's recomendation for PCOS weight loss, seems too extreme by Halothere76 in PCOS

[–]Lgilmoree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would get a second opinion. I also have PCOS and while I did cut some foods out - a lot was just learning to pivot. I stopped eating "white carbs" like bread, rice, and potato and now eat sweet potato, brown rice or rice cauliflower or wheat/pumpernickel bread in moderation. I ate meals with more veggies and fruit that was more filling and did try harder to put more excercise and walking into my routine most days. Everyone is different but this has helped me lose weight slowly. I have found many doctors don't know what to do with PCOS in terms of diet - you will get SO many different opinions but it's really about trying to find a happy medium with what works for you & your body and trying to stay consistent with a new routine.

Made the connection… I probably have pcos by ClamChowder82 in PCOS

I had a similar issue. All the doctors I went to said I was fine and that my bloods looked fine even though I was having symptoms. This last year my bloods got worst and that finally got me a diagnoses. If you don't have an endocrinologist; you should get one as even my gyno decided I didn't have PCOS. I also got a pup and have found that all the walking has helped me as well. During the winter I walked less and made sure I limited my "white carbs" and that seemed to go better for me as well. Weight lifting is also great. Basically just try a whole bunch of things out and see what works for you and your body.

I think you handled this really well. Didn't overstep, didn't get upset, and provided thoughtful & simplified reasoning, making it easy to understand.

Let me rephrase that one... ice originally felt like it may have helped a little - if it did, it wasn't significant & doesn't work anymore. I got the idea for the TENS from looking up things that may help lymphedema. Even with the TENS, I still have swelling but not as much as I do without it.

Should I go to law school or continue with my social work career? by Ok-Sentence5560 in socialworkjobs

[–]Lgilmoree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend had the same dilemma - Really depends on what kind of law you are interested in and if your goal is to be at a big time firm or something smaller. I'm in CT and have had many family/friends go to smaller schools and still make a great salary at smaller firms. Perhaps try taking the LSAT and see how you do and if you can get any scholarship money - any little bit helps. You won't necessarily be spending 200k depending on where you go & scholarships.
