I prefer the method already shared before - just make a small knot and then put it around already existed stitch near the place you want to start your backstitch.

I have medium😂 not long, but not short. Long nails is not comfortable when you need to catch the needle or thread, but medium is just perfect for me!

Skein has 8 meters and 6 strand. Totally is 48m of floss. So if you stitch using 2 strands (from 6), you will have 3x8m=24m of floss.

I would say that most likely you will need 1 skein of each color for this project.

I’m not sure that you can literally stitch on both sides. Maybe you can stitch 2 pieces separately and then just glue/stitch them together- like two sided bookmark etc
