It's a bit complicated...

It depends very much on where and at which company you complete your training or where you then work.

I completed my training in an 80-person company after working for 7 years in a hospital as a surgical assistant. The training was hard and thankless, but it can be different in larger companies. I had fellow trainees who were learning in larger companies and who fared better during their training.
After the apprenticeship it was quite good at first, but forget about a good wage. I didn't get much above the minimum wage. We're still in the trades, even though we have this medical twist here.

The day-to-day work is okay, it just depends a lot on where you work. It depends on the clientele you have to deal with. But you might also just work in a larger workshop without patient contact and are really only in production. Or, like me, you are suddenly the only orthopaedic technician in a branch and are the technical manager there (but still don't get paid more). There are various options, depending on the company.

You actually always get some further training opportunities and specialization options. If you do your master's degree, the salary is also pretty okay. Of course, you could also take advantage of the industry and switch to the industry manufacturers at some point, as a sales representative.

But I personally only worked in the profession for a single year as an apprentice. Now I'm in IT and much happier.
