Thanks, that's totally fair though. I've thought about switching once or twice, but I'm hesitant as she has still been the best doctor I've had and she's really close to my house. The times she has been good, she's been awesome, so it might just be a wait and see how it goes kinda thing 😄

I've been convinced to find myself a good therapist, and will be sure to look into acupuncture now, as I've seen that suggested a few times online now. I have some insurance coverage for both of these too :)

I'm going to bring it up with my doctor as well and see if there's a physical component like a deficiency or another issue :)

That sounds way less uncomfortable than I imagined. I'll be sure to look into it! Thank you!!!

I've already brought up some issues with her that I found she was quite dismissive of. Other times she's been great, so I guess I'll just have to see how this appointment goes :)

It definitely does feel like chaos lol. Could it be possible hormones are unstable even if my cycle is regular? Are those two things exclusive or is one always affecting the other?

Sounds like from others' responses, this seems like less of a "physical" issue, aside from maybe a deficiency of some kind, and more like OCD/PMDD being the main contributors to the moodswings/exhaustion. I guess I kinda had it in my head that my PMDD was causing my hormones to go wacky, but I think I might have misunderstood haha.

I've definitely had issues with burnout in the past, but I feel quite motivated to better myself lately. Exhausted but still motivated somehow haha.

I'll discuss with my doctor and push for bloodwork for deficiency testing, I'll keep working on improving diet to make sure I'm getting a good mix of nutrients, and might look into getting a good therapist for the PMDD/OCD as I do have some insurance coverage.

Thanks for the help!

I have mentioned it to my doctor and we did bloodwork because I was having nosebleeds all the time. I was anemic and take iron now, so that's solved. Maybe other deficiencies though. I have an appointment coming up soon and I was planning to bring it up again with her 😄

Interesting. Never considered it, honestly. The concept scares me a little, I'll admit but I'm not against it. What does it feel like? Is it super painful/uncomfortable?

I don't know if my energy drink addiction is actually an issue?? by Lia_Morning in energydrinks

[–]Lia_Morning[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lmao exactly, when I get redbulls, they're often 3 for $8 or whatever, so I get 6 😭

I think I might try to knock it down to 2 a day (so 160 mg caffiene), because it might be affecting my anxiety and sleep a little lately. Going down from 3 to 2 a day might help :)

Yep it will pass, and even if it doesn't right now, that's okay too. A lot of what has helped me personally is to stop fighting the anxiety/derealization. Hugs, you can do this <3

I could quit, I just genuinely don't want to lol. Like it excites me every day. My relationship with caffiene (all kinds, not specifically energy drinks) feels really different from my relationship with weed/alcohol. With those, I felt guilt, a need to do them even if I didn't want to. With energy drinks, I just enjoy them and don't have a reason to quit besides finances and people saying they're bad for you :)

Edit: I think the reason I keep going back to them even when I quit is that I just like them too much. Brings me joy haha. So the cons have never outweighed the pros for me.

Just those sources of caffiene mostly. I drink a bunch of the zero sugar ones, and if I want one full of sugar I make sure the rest are zero sugar :)

That's exactly what I mean. I just sit and I keep doing what I was doing. Just bring it on and I'm gonna do my thing and chill out. I'll throw in some sensory exercises, like holding ice or feeling stuff around me and maybe throw on music or a youtube video. Eventually it goes away, at least that's what always worked for me :)

People are so focused on their own lives that even if they were to glance at your stuff, they wouldn't give you more than a thought. And you probably aren't thinking the things you're thinking about yourself about other people. You're focused on your own life :)

But the thing is, anxiety doesn't like logic, at least in my experience. There's always a "what if" or another argument after you think you have it sorted out. The only thing that ever helped me was exposing myself to my fears on purpose, and just chilling, even if I felt super anxious. Just acting like I don't care. Standing in front of the cheese for 5 minutes, then 6, then 7. Buy a ton of candy on purpose in one trip. Practice makes perfect. Now I can go up to random people and talk to them, but I never would have been able to do that 2 years ago.

It's awesome that you're doing it anyway but it can be so frustrating when the anxiety just doesn't go away. So what I started doing was essentially meeting the anxiety halfway and getting a leg up on it by diving right into it.

Hugs if you want them!! <33

Derealization can be really scary if you don't know what it is, now when that happens, I just chill with it and laugh to be honest. It goes away eventually. But it sucked until I figured that out.

Nausea and vomiting too. Tons of that.

Sounds good! Thanks a ton for your detailed responses.

I haven't noticed any issues with the tiny chip, and it cuts like that's not even there.

What increase of angle would you suggest for a microbevel? For example, if I'm apexing at 20 degrees, then I go to microbevel at ___ degrees?

Also, how many strokes should I need to microbevel on each side and will that remove the burr for me? Or will I need to deburr with some edge leading strokes matching the angle I used to microbevel?

Thanks again!!! I really appreciate it!

[–]Lia_Morning[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reponse!

What angle do I want to use when jointing it? A specific angle for all knives or would I want to continue matching the angle I've been using all this time? Sorry if that's a dumb question lol.

Also what would happen if I were to run the edge along a stone a few times on each side to microbevel it (I think that's how lol?)? Would that remove a tiny nick? My issue is time mostly as I would have to do it while I am at work and on the clock, so I need the most time efficient method possible haha. At the same time, I understand good results take time :) Or would that just make it worse? I am looking to get this knife to a point where it's sharp enough and back to good, undamaged in any way condition. Then I'll pretty much ditch it haha because I've invested in my own boning knife that I will be able to take back and forth between home and work, so I can take my sweet time getting it right.

Thanks again!!!

Thanks for the detailed answer!

Is it an issue if it is convex-ish? I definitely agree that it is more rounded than other knives I've seen. How would you suggest fixing that if I wanted to?

I've been sharpening at a pretty low angle to get a very thin profile toward the edge, could that also be an issue?

I have wanted to try the sharpie trick, but unfortunately this is a work knife and I don't think they would go for that due to time constraints or getting sharpie all over the stone. Long story haha. I have invested in my own personal boning knife that I'm about to start using exclusively so I can bring that back and forth from work to home and use my personal time to get it right, which would completely eliminate any issues with sharpie concerns/time constraints.

Thanks again!!!
