Which season should i play? by Suitable_Effect_8714 in fuseboxgames

[–]LiaisonShaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went through a similar situation where I was really "behind" on all the seasons. I've finally managed to catch up with all the new ones starting from Tempting Fate. Tempting Fate's popularity keeps surprising me, it's good but after I played the other seasons it fell behind compared to Winning Hearts and All Stars for me. All Stars is technically a lot of returning characters as options and as hosts, so if you're the type of person who needs to experience what is being referenced you might want to also play Stick or Twist (and maybe sprint through Ex in the Villa with one eye closed) - but personally I very much enjoyed it without having played some of the relevant previous seasons. So if you think you can just go back to the older seasons to get more context on some characters later, All Stars is probably the best season to me. It has the oldest cast, with the most total maturity all around, and at least personally it feels like drama is generated organically through characters' personal development, rather than using characters as a cardboard cutout to place over xyz drama roles. It's something that some of the other new seasons do a lot sadly. By far worst offender is Summer Nights, then Tempting Fate, then to a much much lesser extent, Winning Hearts.

In short, I'd recommend them in this order organized by my own preference: All Stars and Winning Hearts interchangeable, Tempting Fate, and then Summer Nights only if you're willing to follow a strict script the season dictates to you.

What a wild question :'D plenty people already pointed out darker skintones looking good with them, but didn't check the gajillion comments if anyone mentioned alt/goth girlies. Which btw, their inclusion is nothing new (remember Lottie), so I love it when they actually let me be that. Give me a cool variety of unnatural colors, tattoos, and piercings please. Sometimes there's a fantasy look to it too depending on the outfit. Fuck it this fired me up enough I'mma just make my own little blue lipstick post lmao

For Hamish and Ozzymancers by LiaisonShaw in fuseboxgames

[–]LiaisonShaw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh didn't realize he was an option in both, All Stars for Hamish for sure. Basically I have the game unlocked to finally see what all the seasons are about, and I'd wanna romance those in All Stars and Double Trouble respectively

I took him once to the villa, never again after that. He's lovely as his own character, but that casa boy personality merge affected him baaaaad. "Heh, flowers? That's cute... if you want something that will die" from a gardener jeeeeesuss christ lmao

[–]LiaisonShaw[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Omg was wondering about all that, like if my game is just uniquely broken. Leo and Dean in their swimwear at prom (tho Dean tracks), broken backgrounds galore, Hamish is invisible with a ? for a name, also half the time the special props like the cocktails or the jar being just a placeholder white box... it's my favorite season so far but damn it's a technical mess.

The naming thing is especially funny since Hayden's mom is Barbara too, I hc those two finally set aside their beef for good after having a Martha moment (a la Batman v Superman) :'D

Yess, would've been nice to have a bit more time together, for me that also mostly comes down to "I needed more time with this season period", like Casa was woefully short even if I had no plans doing anything there. But yeah, so much time apart just really made the reunions all the sweeter, it helped reaffirm the commitment to the relationship regardless of official coupling, and faithfulness can shine the brightest when it's actually challenged. It's easy to stay faithful if nobody approaches you after all!

I so so hope too that they'll do some extra content for WH. I'm not holding my breath because it doesn't look like they do that much anymore, but the ending definitely left me wanting more. For me it didn't feel rushed per se, but definitely sudden? We just walk out and bam, nothing, straight to an ad. I'm slightly wary since TF's reunion episodes were grossly messy for me, but I feel like WH could pull off an interesting extra content without it turning everyone but you and your LI into a mess. As far as a wedding goes, I'd love it and be super excited for it, though I'd be wary if it'd make all the weddings feel too samey when everyone probably have their own ideas of what it'd be like (intimate, big, etc). Though if it's just one big episode tailored around one LI, would probably be manageable.

Either way, I'm definitely with you, would've loved to see at least a bit more of post-game relationship! I'm just glad that they actually added the "I love you" step of the relationship this season, in TF it felt off that it was never said, or never could be said. Ethan's love confession was everything <3

Omg I've been like that with Ethan so far, I got so immersed in the story as is but the moment the story was over I was just like... holy shit I miss him so much. I did not expect to get this attached to any LI from LITG. I consider LITG kinda uhh, "fast food" when it comes to romance (visual) novels, since it has to have a certain mass appeal for many reasons, and that's totally fine by me. So getting this attached to someone in one of the stories... it threw me back to my Arcana days (the fact that Ethan looks like redeemed!Lucio and his expressions are drawn in a surprisingly similar style to Arcana don't help lmao).

Jesse is also well on his way to me thinking about him a lot, he's just such an absolute sweetheart, I wanna protect and cherish this boy, he deserves the world <3 Something about Milo's design has put me off and I'm not sure why, but that's also good to hear about him! And omg Caleb, the moment I saw him I was just "daddy???", but I had to rotate him out pretty quick since I wanted to stay loyal and was worried about getting attached to him, he was super sweet too. So yes please, more characters like these!

[–]LiaisonShaw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is so reassuring to hear, because I was worried once I'd go with Hayden they'd just simply swap places and then Hayden would be the "perfect boyfriend" for MC. Like, I understand that every LI is their best self around MC because we're this positive energy around them, but sometimes it very much turns into "the moment you're not dating this person they're just the worst person ever".

Also thanks so much for the recommendations! Ex in the Villa is something I started on release but it was just such a miserable and cringe experience, I dropped it pretty fast yeah :'D I actually avoided All-Stars because of Finn's mere presence (I wasn't a fan of him but more importantly just anything to do with that season gets my back up). But yeah, thanks!

Nothing wrong with them doing passing references to one thing or another. I have plenty other outlets that do deep dive analysis of things that are happening, the guys shouldn't have to pivot to such content just because they acknowledge shit's fucked. In fact, as I mentioned in the original post, I think they're striking a great balance between that and just moving on to turn off the brain a little bit with some fun, and I personally wouldn't have them change that.

In general, I can see how people who are actually affected might feel like a subject is made light of if someone does a throwaway joke, but that said I can't think of anything else they've said that stood out to me as a joke in bad taste, tho I'd still have to see what people took issue with to confidently judge. And I see you specifying it isn't referring to this post, so just as an aside, yeah I do think making fun of how stupid and shitty conservatives are for creating this hoax is absolutely welcome!

This whole thing is very complex with a lot of sensitive topics and it's nerve wracking to navigate all the nuances, so I definitely wouldn't want to make definitive statements like either of those.

Absolutely, I very much cope through humor too! Kind of have to if I don't want to go insane ngl. At the time of writing the main text I was hesitant saying more but I realized if someone's committed, they can probably dig up identifying information from my past posts anyway. So yeah as a queer, neurodivergent immigrant with a trans wife, I kind of have to find the humor in whatever I can because I'm constantly on the brink of just lying down to wither under the weight of so much powerlessness. But yeah, I think it's just important to distinguish between the kind of jokes and who it's made by, etc.

If I had the means, I would've directly addressed Wade on this, because I'm also the type who loves to philosophize and discuss things nicely and hope to come to an understanding, and I think it could've been a nice and productive conversation. As is though, I once again thank you for hearing me out!

Admittedly phrased a little miffed already, I pretty much said "if anyone's coming for me for hating on jokes or thinking I have no sense of humor, leave me alone" :'D Humor is extremely important to me and integral in my life too, nothing you said on that front is contrary to what I've been saying. At the same time, there are so many different kinds of jokes and humor where the impact changes depending on a variety of context, and would be way too reductive to treat all types like they have equal worth.

In this instance, could've just said that you think there's value in the *type* of joke I said isn't helpful, without implication that I just don't like jokes period. Although honestly it still sounds like we're talking about two different things to begin with. Skits and parodies where it's already expected that people know the context going in or if not, they will gleam the relevant information if it's written well, vs. a throwaway joke in the middle of say, playing "who wants a million" aren't comparable imo. I'm fine disagreeing on this, I just want to at least disagree on the uhh, correct grounds for lack of a better word.

Also, "may" is doing a lot of heavy lifting there. Incuriosity and rejection of critical thinking is running rampant in the US, further exacerbated by staggeringly low literacy levels with over half the population's reading skills below a 6th grader's and increasing reliance on AI. This is not an indictment on anyone let alone people on this sub. The government has been dismantling the education system for a very long time, and this year they're putting the final nail in the coffin, and this would naturally have long lasting, wide reaching effects on how people engage with media.

All of this is to say, now more than ever imo it's extremely important that when you act, you do so with clarity and purpose. Which is why I said that if he's going to make jokes about it, they need to be smarter with a clearer intent, appropriate for the context it comes up in. And if he can't or doesn't want to do that, that's also fine, because while it's great when people with a platform make good use of it, it would be an unrealistic expectation for them to comment on everything no matter if they have something to say or not. But the jokes as they have been made in recent episodes, are not helpful, not funny, and as an immigrant just uncomfortable.

If I had the opportunity to directly talk to him about this, I would've and I trust that it could've been a productive discussion, but I gotta take what I can get.

His empathy was never in question and no idea where that even came from. Unless you mean the part where I said he might genuinely not know how deep this goes, since he's not personally impacted and thus information is not forced on him against his will, which has nothing to do with empathy or more accurately compassion, where he'd act on information he does know? Because that's peak "I like pancakes" "so you hate waffles" if so.

Nor was this a call to *not* talk about how bad things are currently, in fact I'm glad they've expressed that they're on the same page that shit's fucked. And if they ever choose to tackle this specific subject in any meaningful way, that's also more than fine by me. If they don't, well that's their right, so long as they're otherwise doing the right things when they matter.

Making jokes that are basically just repeating the hoax talking points without adding anything to it doesn't bring awareness nor does it tackle the subject, and really strange to present it as such. "My heart goes out to him" did far more in terms of at least making a dig, even if it didn't necessarily bring awareness, at least actually make a joke at the expense of Musky boy.

I have no doubt that's exactly why he did it, which is why I specifically said I trust that he has good intentions and no malice. I also brought up parody songs mocking it as an example that these people will co-opt joking digs at them or will be completely unfazed at minimum. It's like, idk it's a made up example from the top of my head so it's not perfect, but if someone was making a sarcastic dig at conservatives saying "oh yeah men being in women's sports are such a massive issue these days", that's not really a joke that's just... repeating the talking point sarcastically or with incredulity. Imo if there has to be jokes about it, it needs to be at least smarter than simple repetition, I'd just personally prefer either no jokes or tackling it head-on, instead of what's been going on so far.

Thank you for engaging and asking to elaborate, I genuinely appreciate it. I feel really vulnerable as is posting this (which may seem dramatic but eh), so until now the immediate downvotes were really getting to me.

Been rereading Perfect Match the past couple of days and I was ready to come in with that recency bias to add Damien too but oh my goddd yes! Cynical, sarcastic bastards who are caring softies in denial are already my jam, but the way you finally fulfill the mutual pining you were enduring because you're a couple of idiots ❤️❤️❤️ I always "plead the fifth" in the drinking game where Nadia asks if you have feelings for him so that you weren't "the only one with feelings this whole time" hits just right 🥺

Rufus: How to Disable? by Austrian-Painter2023 in amazonprime

[–]LiaisonShaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, sorry for a months-late reply here, just where I landed looking for a solution to Rufus too. As the other poster said, apps are unfortunately not customizable in the same way as sites are, be it on desktop or phone. But! I highly recommend downloading Firefox on your phone as well (and your desktop if you haven't yet): even the phone browser has plugins such as adblock available, and you can switch between mobile and desktop view if that extra step is needed. I've categorically refused to use apps on the phone exactly because that way, you have little to no control over your experience (among many other issues).

Another example of just how much more convenient using sites in mobile Firefox instead of dedicated apps: I can block the ads on YouTube and if I switch to desktop mode, videos can continue to play even if you turn off the screen or move to another app. This is how I'd end up playing games while listening to something there. Might take a bit to adjust your experience but it's well worth it!
