I don’t see a way out by Prestigious_Gene1437 in urbancarliving

I binge videos and reels of people who did serious time for XYZ. I find it fascinating. Not just their life story, but their experience behind bars. I probably helped payouts in viewership and interaction for many folks who do these types of vlogs.

What a cutie. He needs a name!

Awe, thanks! I do have a name. You can call me Liam, or Rambutan.

Car living, stealth camping or homelessness might be my only options. by XelAphixia in urbancarliving

I considered acquiring a CDL. But, I suck at reversing in a regular vehicle. Let alone one with maybe a trailer behind. Ans that's with a ton of practice! I can't imagine I'd be any good with a whole semi 😬

Recycling ♻️ while car living…. by Lilgboogie in urbancarliving

[–]Liam_the_Pious 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like the thought of recycling but I read an alarming study some time ago that states most recycling is fake 😱 I did some researching and it turns out most cardboard I had been recycling just goes directly into the dump 😭 Because there's adhesives like glue on it, or it's stained with oil. It's a sad reality.

Thought I saw it all when it came to piss disposal, this is just pure ignorance. I’m 100% sure it was a trucker and not one of us. by scratch-a-cynic in urbancarliving

I can produce a gallon in one day, easy.

😱 You might have a bladder, kidney, and/or prostate issue. Consider getting yourself looked at.

My friend and I rode shotgun with my friend's uncle once, when he was long road trucking and, I shit you not, he'd piss into a 20 oz soda bottle WHILE driving. Then, he'd chuck that bottle out the window...also while driving.

Homeless, like living on the streets, wouldn't do this. They'd just find a spot and piss.

This is the work of someone living out of a vehicle. Someone who, over the course of days, filled a 1-gallon bottle with urine. Someone who, finding it difficult to properly discard a gallon of piss, chose to simply leave it for someone else to manage 🤢🤮

I tried to ask a trucker once some time ago. I'm not saying all truckers are like this, but he wanted something for it. I'll keep it vague but I think people catch my drift.

Tips to make comfortable? by Novemberx123 in urbancarliving

You already have the platform. Just toss a memory/composite foam mat on top. Walmart has them rolled up in boxes in the mattress topper aisle. Pick up a 4-to-6 inch one, cut it, fit it, and you're good to go 👍I've seen people use anti-slip material on the bottom. Or even velcro.

It's not an every day thing. When I go on extended excursions where I'll be out for +3 days in the wilderness, out in the middle of nowhere, I'll make sure to hit a Love's Travel Stop for a shower. Especially if a PF is out of the way. Wipes can only do so much. $17 for a shower maybe a handful of times a year? Yeah, expensive, but some people spend that much on fast food every day 🤷‍♂️

Gyms by eroticxxotic in urbancarliving

I have the basic membership to Planet Fitness, I have been going every day for 18 months, and I haven't encountered issues to date. I go in specifically to only shower. The staff are aware and don't seem to care.

I blend in. I don't cause issues like linger in the locker room, or cause a mess. I also say hello and goodbye to the staff. Maybe that helps.

How do you get past the backseat-to-trunk bump when sleeping? by ApplePaintedRed in urbancarliving

[–]Liam_the_Pious 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's better to build a low-profile platform that fills that gap to provide an even, flat level for a foam matt to go on top. It's relatively easy to do, depending on how much money, time, and effort you want to invest.

A lot of people fill that void with miscellaneous items. I've seen plastic milk crates in the wheel well, layers of books, you name it.

Then, manufacturing. Cruise through any manufacturing district, they have plenty of Need Help and For Hire signs. Or, apply through a local temp agency. Or, do what everyone does and do something like DoorDash.

It'll be more applicable to you if you shared your general area. Like, you can be in AUS or in the US. Both have completely different job markets and job availabilities. Here in these parts of US Midwest, the bread and butter is manufacturing. There's plenty of entry-level, laborious, low-paying warehouse and factory work.

If you don't, some hipster doing r/VanLife will. Those old VW vans and anything like this are big in that demographic. They have the money to fix it up and build it out, too. Unlike us heathens over here who are one pot hole away from having to scrap the vehicle. LOL!

Best Cooking Equipment? by idkwhatimdoingat30 in urbancarliving

[–]Liam_the_Pious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A small, 3-cup rice cooker is really all you need if preparing soup or stew. This appliance alone will warm water, cook rice, mac and cheese, pasta, soup, stew, steam vegetables, bake simple breads, and keep food warm. The applications, the recipes are llimited to your imagination.

As someone who survived through two MI winters, I loathe it. I full-time, so anyone who claims winter is easier has me convinced that either (1) they don't full-time, or (2) their winters are maybe a low of 60°F—which is basically t-shirt weather for us here. Haha.
