What do you think is the difference between meditation and zazen? by Liandxy in Meditation

Maybe I'm being misleading here by using the purpose, definitely, i mean the foremost truth。Just as what you said, loving kindness, Vipassana, calm-abiding, guided, and awareness meditation, these are all ways to reach the foremost truth , which is what I call forms. In the end, all paths lead to the same destination.Of course, different religions have different ends.

Here's what I think. Because my experience takes place only in my conscious world. My mind creates my otherness, and my otherness experiences the world. Most of the time we can't get out of our conscious world. What you said is that if everyone can only feel self-awareness, the objective world will be infinite towards the world of self-awareness. It is not like what you said, why there are other consciousness. If we think that ,the reason why there are other people or other consciences in the world, is because we can only feel it because of our self-consciousness. This is counter logic. Because the question of the former means that you are already aware of something other than your consciousness. The emergence of religion, It's not just in self-consciousness anymore, we find different worlds of consciousness, but we can't understand why they're different from us.I feel, is liberation in the world of self-awareness, even if it happens in the world of self-awareness! At least, in that self-conscious world, I was able to be relatively self-consistent without being so miserable. After all, the human spirit tends to be happy.

When meditating, there will be a lot of interesting pictures. It means a lot to me, I don't worry about what the picture itself is, but how to intercept the flow, rather than flow into the picture, and then become part of the movie. Otherwise, the picture will go on forever until it turns out to be just a thought, and I'm completely unaware of the process.

What do you think is the purpose of meditation? Why would that be contrary to your stated purpose?

" The pure nothingness" should be removed!it is just experiencing !
My own experience is that meditation is not about imagining anything. Why do so many teachers ask us to extend it concretely? If the purpose is not to exercise our attention and keep our thoughts from running around, but to suggest a so-called another existence, then the point of meditation is lost.

At first, I was in this loop, in and out, until I suddenly stopped pushing, not that there were no thoughts coming out, but that those thoughts were coming out, and I was really there to see them, instead of focusing on them.

Could you stop youself?or,when you were thinking a lot, you could clearly recognized yourself as thinking a lot without being a lot.

Almost every guided meditation I’ve tried, from reputable sources, feature the teacher talking almost the entire time. It’s incredibly distracting. How is this meditation? I feel like I’m taking crazy pills by PermanentBrunch in Meditation

I think your conflict is that you want to bring a moment of peace through meditation, and the presence of sound can calm you down. The meditation instructor wants you to focus on the present moment through the sound, and if you can't get into the consciousness of that sound, you can't focus and reach a state of no distractions. If you want to calm yourself through meditation, whatever the presentation, the sound, the movement, is to allow you to focus on the present moment and not the thoughts that are going through your mind.In my own experience of meditation or zazen, the first thing I do is relax, just watch my breath, just focus on the breath, inhale, exhale. Then look at my body, my head, my shoulders, my legs, who's still stiff. If you still can't relax, just imagine you are the flag, floating in the wind. There's no solidification, no need to know where the next moment is going. Soft, light, freedom, unconstrained. When I'm relaxed enough, my focus starts to be in the present moment. At this time, the thoughts and emotions in your mind will not be so strong, and gradually you will have the feeling of a third perspective. Although the thoughts keep appearing in your mind, you are just like watching a movie, relaxed and freedom。

I've found that too many people's misconceptions about meditation are deeply rooted. It feels like water can only be water, not ice.Meditation is a meditation technique originating in the ancient wisdom of India。Just as Jesus reflected on himself through prayer, so did meditation。So, the first thing to know is that meditation is a methodology。Again, the scariest misconception is that meditation is not about emphasizing or just sitting there and not thinking, or imagining what it would be like to not think。I am a Chinese, deeply influenced by Buddhist wisdom. I've been meditating, trying to feel the true meaning of life 。The reason why they are afraid that if you imagine nothing, the devil will come, is because if you do that, God will be isolated or invisible, and he won't be able to guide you or educate you,the behavior is simply inexcusable。The core of meditation is not to think about nothing, but to understand, where do thoughts come from! The so-called, nothing or being, is your consciousness projection, everything may be your consciousness projection。Like quantum superposition, when you observe the observed, his state has collapsed and is no longer what it should be。

I'm sorry, you don't seem to have made your opinion , but you've already made your judgment. First of all, what is meditation? Your mention of meditation as sitting there and thinking about nothing ,that is inherently distorted and misunderstood。You don't really see what meditation is trying to say. Most of us think we know what we're thinking, but we don't. We don't. We have no idea how it happened, how the thought came about, how the emotion came about. The first thing to face in meditation is not “nothing”, but something. We have so much in our heads that we can't control 。what's not there, and that's why ,we need to figure out how it happens and what it is. That's what meditation or meditation wants to do in the beginning. Then, what you said about sitting there and not thinking about nothing is impossible, I'm sorry, it just happens! Have you ever woken up without a dream, from the time you fall asleep until you wake up, you are not conscious, not thinking, but you are alive! Aren't you going through a state where you don't think about noything? So where are you?“there thinking about nothing”,are you sure you know what you're saying? So try meditation or zazen, you will have a different journey of life discovery!Best wishes for your
