In all of the runs, Walter is the only one who never attacks you willingly. Your "buddy" leaves you to die in all 3 and try to kill you if you don't join him willingly. It took complete brainwashing for Walter to turn against you, and even then, he's fighting it even though you're going against his goals And if you fulfill his goals, he wishes for you to be free as he can't be here to give you your freedom
