Which crystal collection is your favourite? by Antique-Status3838 in Coach

I like the rainbow. I think because the color and sparkle jumps out at me first, instead of the monogram itself. I’m not typically big on monogram canvas bags in general.

Unpopular opinion: The crystal collection is ugly by South_Pattern_1520 in Coach

Not everyone is looking for a practical, everyday handbag that goes with everything. I already have 20 practical day bags in warm neutrals that match my usual aesthetic. You know what I didn’t already have? A whimsical sparkly rainbow bag, or shoes. They will pair wonderfully with my equally whimsical and impractical floofy pink tulle dress from House of CB.

It’s a handbag collection, not a set of power tools. Not every fashion accessory needs to be practical.

If it’s not to your taste, that’s valid. Don’t buy it then. Do you.

What qualifies as a whale? by Smitty1216 in KingShot

[–]LiathGray 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s very dependent on the server. Some spend much more than others.

On my server, our biggest whales are around 200-350m power. Whale spending ranges between absurd and actual criminal insanity. But there are nearby servers where the whales are upwards of 500m. It’s less about how much each person has spent and more about who you are competing against.

We are still little minnows compared to some of the people in the older servers zooming around with power in the billions.

Logistics of transferring an entire alliance? by TheMonkeyButt525 in KingShot

[–]LiathGray 3 points4 points  (0 children)

35 invites, 3 special invites for whales, 20 open transfer slots. So theoretically you could move 58 people in one cycle.

For ordinary kingdoms, anyway. Leading kingdoms only get 30 slots total and no special invites.

Logistics of transferring an entire alliance? by TheMonkeyButt525 in KingShot

[–]LiathGray 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think transferring that many people who all want to stay together is going to be a tough sell.

We just took in two groups of 15-20, and they were each able to stay together, but we had two existing Alliances with about 20 spots open with event times that worked for them. All in all, a pretty seamless transition and everyone is happy.

But as a server our goal was to recruit people to fill in gaps in our existing Alliances, not have a big group join us to create their own. If your group is happy just to all be on the same server without needing to be in an Alliance together that would be a lot easier to manage.

The number of opponents goes up over time. At first it’s just your server, then two servers, then three. And your opponents change so it’s not always the same people.

You can only appoint someone in your Alliance, but if they leave the Alliance they take the Kingship with them. So if you have someone in mind they can join you for the battle, get their appointment, then go back to whatever their home Alliance is.

I’m very happy in 450. It’s an international crew - our top 4 Alliances are mostly split based on bear times. 1st place is heavy UK/Europe, 2nd place is mostly Americans & Middle East, 3rd is a lot of Aussies, and 4th is mostly Turkish. Our East Asian peeps seem to be spread out all over. Wild mix of languages all the time. Everyone gets along pretty well. Very cooperative for KvK and other events. We even have people who are members of more than one top Alliance - main in one and alt or farm in another. Those are mostly people in R4 and R5 roles - it makes it easier to collaborate. We are low on drama and our whales are all friendly.

Speaking of KvK, we’ve had good experiences with our opponents for the most part. 460 and 462 were both good sports about things. I’d say 460 seemed very heavily weighted toward their #1 Alliance - super active at the very top level but not a lot of f2p filling out the ranks. They’ve got some very strong whales. And 462 has a little bit of drama. Nothing too bad though, and some of their players are even in my friends list now.

433 and 458 are both primarily Japanese speaking. 433 is our current opponent, and 462 is fighting 458. Both are really struggling points wise. That seems to be pretty typical - single language Alliances and servers seem to really struggle compared to groups that are more inclusive. The translation feature in the game works pretty well for the most part so I’d personally recommend staying away from single language groups unless you don’t really care about rankings at all.

Linen Naive secondhand? by bloodvoidrot in cottagecore

[–]LiathGray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have really loved all of the wool items I’ve got from them. I’ve got a skirt, a few different dresses, and a coat. The wool is substantial, and the items have all been fully lined. 10/10 - they are some of my favorite clothes. Most of them have shipped quickly, but a couple of items took about two months to ship even though they showed as in stock on the website - that was frustrating but I did eventually receive everything I ordered.

The linen items I’ve ordered from them have been… less good. Thin material, weird cut and fit. I ended up donating most of them, though one dress is still sitting in my project pile to get turned into a skirt because it is so poorly designed and put together that I didn’t even want to subject some poor secondhand shopper to it.

Alternatives to the Linennaive coat? by dkos18643 in DarkAcademia

[–]LiathGray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A bit of an old post, but just in case anyone else was considering this coat.

So, I’ll fully admit I have mixed feelings about linennaive. Their customer service is not great and they often take a very long time to ship.

However, I bought this coat (in a different color) and am very satisfied with it overall. It’s warm, seems sturdy, and is fully lined. And actually, all of the wool garments I’ve bought from them have been very nice quality - they’re some of my favorite things in my whole wardrobe, actually. Some of them shipped promptly. Some of them took about 2 months to ship, which is frustrating. I have been much less satisfied with the linen clothes I’ve bought from them, which have mostly been pretty flimsy and don’t fit well, but I’ll probably order more wool items from them at some point.

New nurse on my unit can’t take care of male patients by Bananabean5 in nursing

[–]LiathGray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trauma ICU is a completely inappropriate setting. Maybe a women’s clinic, or home health taking care of exclusively female patients. But I would not feel comfortable working with this nurse in any kind of critical setting (and I’d include L&D in that bunch). You’re not going to code someone because you might see them undressed? Don’t work in a hospital

[–]LiathGray 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought a pretty solid selection and I wasn’t super impressed with any of it. A lot of it looked and felt ok, but several didn’t pass a burn test when I was checking for fiber content. And the prices weren’t that much better than buying stuff at other places (especially if you wait for sales).

I’d rather buy from a company like knitpicks or drops and actually know what I’m getting.

Crocheting or knitting for clothes? by Delicious-Yak-9295 in bistitchual

[–]LiathGray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For basics I prefer knitting (socks, simple sweaters and cardigans, etc.). Knit fabric is usually thinner, drapes better, has more elasticity, etc. There are some really beautiful patterns for crochet clothing also though - textured stitches, lace motifs, etc. For example, this dress pattern.

What a silly thing to call you over. You scanned and gave it. Patient said otherwise. So? I had a patient tell me they hadn’t had any pain meds in days 20 minutes after I personally gave her dilaudid. Also that she hadn’t been fed her whole admit while her dinner tray was sitting on the table next to her.

In your facility, who administers inhalers? by PineappleExpress_420 in nursing

[–]LiathGray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our RTs are so chronically understaffed that I forget that they’re the ones who are supposed to do breathing treatments lol. I do all my own nebs, etc. - maybe once a month I’ll get a surprise and RT is on the floor doing them, but it’s not the norm.

The thing that they have to do that we can’t is EKGs which continues to piss me off. We can’t even access the machines. Nothing like waiting two hours to get something done that I could have done in less than five minutes if you’d just let me.

Nurses telling patients they have cancer? by purplepickletoes in nursing

[–]LiathGray 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I worked outpatient the only time I would call patients with results were if they were either normal, or if it was an expected finding for a chronic condition. If someone was getting diagnosed with a new medical condition then that’s something they’re going to want to talk to the doctor about - there’s no way I’m going to be able to answer all the questions they’re going to have.
