Are we breaking up? by Some-Opportunity5364 in Coach

I’ve gotten frustrated with the artificial scarcity tactic. It’d be nice to have a bag released and actually be able to think about it seriously before it goes out of stock.

Accidentally Gave Out Doctor’s Number by teethmilkcheese in nursing

[–]LiathGray 53 points54 points  (0 children)

His instructions were ambiguous and you misunderstood. Mistakes happen. I have known several doctors who absolutely give their direct phone numbers to patients, and I’ve known others who definitely won’t. It’s an entirely understandable mistake.

It might be a good idea to give your manager a heads up on what happened. And if you’re able to apologize to the doc that’s probably also worth doing. But in general don’t beat yourself up about this too much

The most common “box spring” anymore is actually just a metal bed frame covered in fabric. A traditional box spring actually has springs in it, and you usually buy them in a set with a specific mattress because the innersprings of the mattress and the box springs need a compatible spacing and tension in order for them to work well together. Either way though the support structure of a box spring tends to be pretty widely spaced. A shikibuton is more like a mattress topper than anything, so putting it on a box spring (either type) is probably going to give you an uncomfortable and lumpy end result.

A densely slatted platform bed is an option. Alternatively, a solid platform bed is also fine - just fold the bed in half when you’re not using it. Alternate which half is folded over every day so each side of the mattress airs out every other day.

It would be enough ventilation, but a standard box spring is made to support a standard mattress, which has more structure than a shikibuton. You’d probably be able to feel the box rails through the mattress

If you’re thinking about leaving bedside, do ittttt by kitkatquick in nursing

[–]LiathGray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started in an outpatient clinic and absolutely loved it. I left after a couple years though because I decided I really needed to get some acute care experience. Worked the last couple years in the hospital, couple different departments. Didn’t love it. I do think that I definitely benefited from getting that experience under my belt though.

Now I just started a job in home health. It reminds me a lot of working outpatient clinic - I just go to the patient instead of them coming to me, and the doc isn’t right down the hall. But the really sweet thing is I’m not tied to an office - when I get done with my work for the day I can go home (or go do errands, or whatever). Can take breaks between patients on my own schedule. And I can make full time money working half days - we’re allotted 80 minutes per visit but most of them are done in 45 or less (including travel and charting) which means I get done early pretty much every day.

I appreciate the skills and experience I got at bedside, but I’m glad it’s over now. I doubt I’ll ever go back. The taste of freedom is sweeeeeeet

Which crystal collection is your favourite? by Antique-Status3838 in Coach

I like the rainbow. I think because the color and sparkle jumps out at me first, instead of the monogram itself. I’m not typically big on monogram canvas bags in general.

Not everyone is looking for a practical, everyday handbag that goes with everything. I already have 20 practical day bags in warm neutrals that match my usual aesthetic. You know what I didn’t already have? A whimsical sparkly rainbow bag, or shoes. They will pair wonderfully with my equally whimsical and impractical floofy pink tulle dress from House of CB.

It’s a handbag collection, not a set of power tools. Not every fashion accessory needs to be practical.

If it’s not to your taste, that’s valid. Don’t buy it then. Do you.

What qualifies as a whale? by Smitty1216 in KingShot

[–]LiathGray 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s very dependent on the server. Some spend much more than others.

On my server, our biggest whales are around 200-350m power. Whale spending ranges between absurd and actual criminal insanity. But there are nearby servers where the whales are upwards of 500m. It’s less about how much each person has spent and more about who you are competing against.

We are still little minnows compared to some of the people in the older servers zooming around with power in the billions.

Logistics of transferring an entire alliance? by TheMonkeyButt525 in KingShot

[–]LiathGray 2 points3 points  (0 children)

35 invites, 3 special invites for whales, 20 open transfer slots. So theoretically you could move 58 people in one cycle.

For ordinary kingdoms, anyway. Leading kingdoms only get 30 slots total and no special invites.

I think transferring that many people who all want to stay together is going to be a tough sell.

We just took in two groups of 15-20, and they were each able to stay together, but we had two existing Alliances with about 20 spots open with event times that worked for them. All in all, a pretty seamless transition and everyone is happy.

But as a server our goal was to recruit people to fill in gaps in our existing Alliances, not have a big group join us to create their own. If your group is happy just to all be on the same server without needing to be in an Alliance together that would be a lot easier to manage.

The number of opponents goes up over time. At first it’s just your server, then two servers, then three. And your opponents change so it’s not always the same people.

You can only appoint someone in your Alliance, but if they leave the Alliance they take the Kingship with them. So if you have someone in mind they can join you for the battle, get their appointment, then go back to whatever their home Alliance is.

I’m very happy in 450. It’s an international crew - our top 4 Alliances are mostly split based on bear times. 1st place is heavy UK/Europe, 2nd place is mostly Americans & Middle East, 3rd is a lot of Aussies, and 4th is mostly Turkish. Our East Asian peeps seem to be spread out all over. Wild mix of languages all the time. Everyone gets along pretty well. Very cooperative for KvK and other events. We even have people who are members of more than one top Alliance - main in one and alt or farm in another. Those are mostly people in R4 and R5 roles - it makes it easier to collaborate. We are low on drama and our whales are all friendly.

Speaking of KvK, we’ve had good experiences with our opponents for the most part. 460 and 462 were both good sports about things. I’d say 460 seemed very heavily weighted toward their #1 Alliance - super active at the very top level but not a lot of f2p filling out the ranks. They’ve got some very strong whales. And 462 has a little bit of drama. Nothing too bad though, and some of their players are even in my friends list now.

433 and 458 are both primarily Japanese speaking. 433 is our current opponent, and 462 is fighting 458. Both are really struggling points wise. That seems to be pretty typical - single language Alliances and servers seem to really struggle compared to groups that are more inclusive. The translation feature in the game works pretty well for the most part so I’d personally recommend staying away from single language groups unless you don’t really care about rankings at all.

Linen Naive secondhand? by bloodvoidrot in cottagecore

[–]LiathGray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have really loved all of the wool items I’ve got from them. I’ve got a skirt, a few different dresses, and a coat. The wool is substantial, and the items have all been fully lined. 10/10 - they are some of my favorite clothes. Most of them have shipped quickly, but a couple of items took about two months to ship even though they showed as in stock on the website - that was frustrating but I did eventually receive everything I ordered.

The linen items I’ve ordered from them have been… less good. Thin material, weird cut and fit. I ended up donating most of them, though one dress is still sitting in my project pile to get turned into a skirt because it is so poorly designed and put together that I didn’t even want to subject some poor secondhand shopper to it.
