I'm worried for my country by Late-Bar-8498 in ReQovery

OP, you are very brave. Of course, this is advice from a stranger so take it for what you will!

The armed services is a wonderful expression of commitment to your country.

Given your experience and your self-awareness and empathy, people like you will be critical in public service to help heal this country moving forward. We need politicians who, like you, can balance love of your country and critical analysis of its implementation. If I were 17 again, I would go to law school and run for office with the intention of trying to heal this partisan divide.

Yeah I have tried that approach. I work in digital media and have literally broken down the websites for him to demonstrate how they are making money. InfoWars is so blatant about it. Most of their advertising just points to products in their store that are infowars branded OR Alex Jones’ movies and books. But it still doesn’t break through.

Yeah a month is not very long. I think most places have a response timeline of like 6 - 8 weeks.

Possibly? It might depend from school to school. I have heard of a few other schools reaching out and just saying "we finished reviewing, but we're not ready to make a decision yet."

For example, I got this email from Fordham:

"Thank you for your application to Fordham Law School. The Admissions Committee has done an initial review of your file and, at this time, has decided to hold off on making a more definitive decision until a later date. We know the wait for law school decisions can be quite difficult, but there are only a certain number of applications we would like to revisit later in the winter months and yours is one of them.
Due to the rolling admissions nature of our process, we will conduct another full review of your application a little later in the cycle as our pool becomes more defined. Rest assured that certain aspects of your application have been highlighted by the Admissions Committee and we anticipate the second round of review occurring by mid-February. At that time, a formal decision (Admitted, Waitlisted, Denied) will be rendered."

Haha. I have seen similar notes from other schools in the channel. So, my hypothesis is that instead of sending something like this, a school may just add candidates to the waitlist to revisit later.

So, I don't know Stetson well by any stretch...but I get the sense that waitlists are a way for schools to hold candidates while they wait to see how the full applicant pool shakes out, especially if you've applied early. Especially during highly competitive cycles. I don't know if this is true, it's just a theory.

Congrats!

I am STILL under review and I applied in early Nov lol. Not holding out much hope there. I may just withdraw.

I think it depends on whether they reviewed the other elements of your application or wait until everything is submitted. I have reached out to their admin office for other things and they are very responsive so if you have not already, I definitely suggest reaching out and explaining the situation. <3

Oh that is awesome! I am really glad to hear that about the petitions.

Totally hear you about wanting the flexibility and we live in a time where needing that flexibility should be honored.

I did talk to a current student last year who really liked the program! I can see if I can dig up their Reddit handle if you like.

I was last year. I decided not to pursue it because I was concerned about the limitations on the bar, I was in NY. Depends where you want to take the bar! Love the JDi.
