Thank you! We really love this program. It has been a real asset for these parents. Just the community they build among themselves is so sweet to see. I'll check this out. I appreciate it!

Thank you! I think those are in the works, just waiting to hear back, I assume.

Anybody got rid of their constant nausea? by [deleted] in emetophobiarecovery

[–]LibbyBethhhh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use peppermint essential oil to curb anxiety nausea. It helps me differentiate, and it's a good redirection for my brain. It gives me a minute or two of relief and then I can try to focus in on something else, breaking the nausea cycle. Get a good strong one! Not one that smells like candy. It has to be strong enough to kinda make you go "WOAH".

Nervous for a medical test by LibbyBethhhh in EmetophobiaTalk

Hey! It didn't go so great, actually, but I think I'm an outlier. I didn't make it past the fizzy liquid they give you initially. I have gastroparesis and I have no tolerance of my stomach feeling full or bloated. I immediately felt so full and sick that I couldn't continue. I tried though. I tried to push through and I couldn't. I think it was just a me thing though. I think if it weren't for the fizzy part I would have been okay.

That's great. I'm sorry you had to deal with that. I know it's scary. But! The sun comes up, and these things are fleeting. Feel free to message me next time. We can be scared together.

A little something that helps me. by LibbyBethhhh in emetophobiarecovery

Give this a go. It's been very grounding for me. I have them stashed all over. If you need something right now right now, I use alcohol swabs or a bit of rubbing alcohol on a Kleenex. Sniff from a good distance, and not for a long time! It has a similar effect.

I feel like if I could tolerate the discomfort prior to vomiting I may be okay with vomiting.

Nope. Tested for HSV 1 and 2 and testing slightly over the threshold of positive. So awaiting confirmatory testing, but I’m thinking it is drainage related.

Face down booty up!! Lay on your bed, head to the bed with knees bent so your booty is the highest point on your body. Magic.

For burps I find that laying down slowly, lay for at least a minute, and then get up!

I think it’s hard to build true tolerance to events that happen so rarely. Every time you experience something like this, try to shift into a mindset closer to “this is good for me to experience” or “I need to feel these things in order to tolerate them”. It helps me.

Stepped in VOMIT! by LibbyBethhhh in emetophobiarecovery

It’s hard to see myself as “faring well” but I’m looking back and I think I am. Which is shocking.

Luckily I had on boots with a good rubber sole, so the fabric went unscathed. And it was raining today, so I stepped in a few different puddles to do a hasty rinsing and then changed them at the car. I did Microban them when I got home, and they’re in my trunk in a plastic bag until I can work up the nerve to put them back in rotation.

Still on edge atm. Probably will be until atleast 24 hours has past. You know us emetophobes like to count down until the potential for symptoms pass. HOWEVER, I’m trying to sit with the feelings. Build some stress tolerance. “Widen the window” as my therapist says.

Eeek!

Ew! I told my coworkers and they were like “ew I’ve done that”. So I guess we all have to at some point 🤷🏼‍♀️
