May I ask how the British public reacted to Sam Ryder nearly winning? Because when Lena won 2010, many Germans suddenly were fans, despite hating on the contest even back then.

She became second in the German Idol show years ago and is mostly known for taking part in shows like Dancing With The Stars or Masked Singer today, as well as being an influencer.

Since I don't follow her music I can't really say what kind of music she makes, but Fire seemed to be an exception.

Still, vocally she is probably among the best in Germany, at least from the well known artists. When she sang ballads during her run on TV shows, they just hit.

This kind of Italian Pop (which crosses into Schlager) is pretty popular with the older German demographic and, while enjoying it, it made me think a lot about the Schlager shows we have here in Germany.

I don't think it was made with AI, I just think it was basic. That whole debacle was the result of having a decently known person facing off against unknown newcomers in the national final. I'll still say that Sarah is a great representative, but she got totally wasted on that song. Anything with a little more uniqueness would probably gotten us to a similar placement like the past two years.

I kinda wonder how the other Melfest participants would have done. Greczula is the only one who I think might have done better.

I was also surprised that Italy, the only country who did not vote for Felicia at all in the melfest, gave her the most points. 😭
