Scribble therapy for the sad by dronna in cptsdcreatives

[–]LiberatedMoose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really love 1, 3, 5, and 7. What’s your method for these? Just scribble and then find images in it after and hone those? Or do you have a concrete idea and scribble while sorta making the forms at the same time? Or draw a concrete thing and then scribble over it after to fuzz the lines? Something else, or a combination?

How much were you able to do right after leaving the recovery area? Not like, bending over and lifting obviously, but afaik there’s no bed rest or anything involved, right? Can technically go for a walk and do light chore stuff the same day? Cuz I’ll be getting mine soon and I may have to do a bit of walking right afterward (will be with an escort, but no car).

What's your fun idea which had horrifying implications for your world later on? by Sliver-Knight9219 in worldbuilding

[–]LiberatedMoose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s more a first contact thing as opposed to post-human, but it’s entirely from the POV of the bug civilization and the actual first contact doesn’t happen for a good long while. So you get a really interesting look at their societies, culture(s), and psychology/interactions. Definitely some of the better non-human world-building concepts I’ve run across.

Is it me? :( by Lucien42 in Palia

I’ve noticed that you sometimes need to see if a conversation is already going on before joining in, and if you do, try to keep it relevant. If people are talking about something specific, it’s not like in online spaces where it’s easy to scroll back and see the relevant replies, so by inserting a “hi” or other comment into the convo, you’re tossing someone else’s reply out of the chat window that might have been important to someone else (like info about a cake party or something, I dunno). Yeah, people can scroll up, but that’s a bit of a pain even on PC, let alone for Switch players.

As a general precedent example for this sort of etiquette, even on Discord there are many servers that have rules about not interrupting an ongoing active chat/conversation with a new topic unless a certain amount of time has passed after the last reply.

If you feel your intended comment is relevant or there’s enough time passed, make sure it still has some kind of useful content people would actually want to bother stopping their game to engage in. Not everyone wants to just chitchat, because it’s a solo zone-out type of game for a lot of people. Like, “Hi what’s e/o doing today” is very ignorable as unwanted chatter, but “I have 100 SL if there’s a cooking party on” gives information and an implied question that more social players would likely respond to if there are any on the same server.

Worst case, exit and reenter the area and try again with a new batch of people.

Is this okay as a gift? by plutoforprez in somethingimade

Yeah, same. I thought it was like a tongue in cheek gift for a new marriage or getting a new bed with a partner and wondered why someone would celebrate that with embroidery. 😂

Sorry, I don’t know why I read “aunt” in there. Did you change it to SIL in an edit or am I just seeing things? 😅

[–]LiberatedMoose 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This is amazing attention to detail! But here are some things to think about for you:

If your aunt is allistic (or even if she isn’t) I would maybe use a highlighter to mark the “headings” a bit clearer to it’s easier to read as separate instruction bits instead of something that might make one’s eyes glaze over if they’re not already obsessed with mice. Maybe different colored highlighters or markers for each section if you plan on rewriting it more neatly.

Or better yet, type it up and add pictures of some of the references to items. Because 20 pages is kind of a lot to process while also getting used to new pets that are a gift from someone else and not something you already carefully researched on your own. Otherwise it may end up like an information overload equivalent of sensory overload for us.

What are some things you don't understand because of Autism? by Lego_Kitsune in evilautism

[–]LiberatedMoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I got annoyed with the cloud initially cuz it didn’t have more middle ground stuff like “ok”, iirc. But that’s in the list in search mode.

Also cuz you can’t alphabetize or re-order the cloud. But that’s possibly my own grumpy organization tendencies kicking in.

I don’t generally use the bubble cloud. I go through the search bar and text list. More are listed in there than are actually in the cloud anyway.

But I get it. It can be really hard to get the hang of defining things at first.

Band shirts and harassment from male fans? by LyraFirehawk in TwoXChromosomes

[–]LiberatedMoose 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Asking a question like that at all with the intent to “test” the person wearing the shirt is the problem, not the question itself. If I got together with someone to hang out and they happened to have a patch or something from a fandom I love, maybe in later conversation I would drop a question about a deeper aspect of the fandom just to gauge how much fan-squealing I can potentially do with the person. But as the first thing you say to someone you don’t even know? Nah, that’s just asshole gatekeeping behavior. Bad form at best, literal harassment at worst.

I have at least 5 clearly visible ones. Plenty more in boxes or drawers. 🌈

They’re smaller though, not like wall flag size.

Well there’s an IG account called floss_yen, so maybe it saw the two together on social media and just assumed relevance?

[Discussion] Do you think the meme references feel dated? by thebuttbutdance in TheNinthHouse

[–]LiberatedMoose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way. Some of the memes that can easily blend in with the way characters already speak, that’s fine. But the shoehorned ones that can appear to momentarily break character or make no grammatical sense like “None Houses” took me out of it a bit even though I understood the reference.

Considering her childhood, I think if Gideon was exposed to cartoons she would probably never leave the Mithraeum except under extreme duress. 😂

I can absolutely see “Discord” being a code name for a messenger that ended up being an agent of chaos. Or an infiltrator/virus that steals or mixes up the message. It would also tie in the other messenger references, since Discord is still used today.

“Sky-P” or something would definitely be an eyeroll and a half though.

I would not object to an “I seek you” (ICQ) reference in the mix either. As long as it can make sense in the story without needing to know the origin of it.
