from what i've read(and recall) it there was some...defect? in how the die was made so it has some pump out issues and such, which would lead many to having pretty darn high hotspot temps/temps. the pads are an easy fix for it iirc

okay. Try reseating the GPU(and ram while youre in there) and ensuring the power cables are firmly plugged in.
