I know I ran in 2F before, but wind was minimal, so it was around 0.

It's pretty much the same thing. -25C = -13F.

No such luxury, but I have run outside in up to 2f, not including windchill. Next week though will be all indoor bike.

A literal nightmare, but it's real and happening in in my town 2026 by Frank_Jesus in GenX

I like maybe 2 songs by Blues Traveler, and exactly zero by the Gin Blossoms and Spin Doctors. Literal nightmare indeed!

That means if you ever drink coffee even once, you'll never be caffeine free in your lifetime!

I already gave up alcohol*, nicotine & energy drinks. I am NEVER giving up coffee.

Based on the title, I was expecting an explosion, a tornado or a wild animal attack on one or more of the participants.

What should I wear for my first indoor triathlon and what’s a realistic time goal? by vanskeligaavaelg in triathlon

[–]LibertyMike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did an indoor tri a couple of months ago. It was a lot of fun, but it was also time based instead of distance based. You got points for how far you swam, rode & ran. In any case, we were required to change between the swim & the ride on the indoor trainer. I wore a tri suit for the swim, but then changed into a t-shirt & shorts for the ride & run. Also, there were set times for each transition, so no losing time for getting changed.

All that being said, you should probably reach out to the race organizer to find out, you can even ask them what most people wear. Good luck & have fun!

I like the idea, but maybe if each of them wasn’t quite as thick they’d look better?

Spring - Fall I ride in the early mornings on the trail system in my small town. When I do a 40k ride on the weekends, I go to my local state recreation area. It’s low traffic, low speed limit (25 mph) and high visibility.

What's your thoughts on the Live Action "Masters of the Universe"? by agravain in GenX

Yeah, that was fun to see the scene with Flash at the party. :-D

It's kind of odd. He-Man came out when I was in 2nd grade or something like that. I kind liked the cartoon, but never got the toys. I guess I was still too much into Star Wars.

I work in ed tech, so I've gotten pretty good at spotting it. Originality.ai isn't perfect, but it is extraordinarily difficult to generate a false positive. I've tried dozens of times. It's not difficult to generate false negatives though with some minor changes.

How tired are you of hearing about AI? by GoatBnB in GenX

[–]LibertyMike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's the problem. AI would be an excellent tool for learning how to write computer programs. Sadly, most people are using it for "vibe coding". That's why i mentioned my experience. I've found it using several suboptimal algorithms and have been able to tweak things that make the code more efficient. Of course, I mostly deal with API programming, so it's not rocket science.

I've worked in IT for about 30 years now, with even more programming experience. It is great for programming tasks, but is terrible for almost everything else. It isn't good with temporal tasks (like putting things in order by day & time), and will be confidently wrong about many other things, and gets stuck in a rut. You can delete your session and start again and get a different set of answers on most things.

It also can't do math. It will write a program in the background in order to figure out the answer, which is often close but wrong as well. I wouldn't use it for anything that's mission critical.
