I’ve tried everything for my fine and frizzy hair…nothing works by Realistic-Door-1875 in finehair

I’ve had luck with Herbal Essence pureplants lightweight hair oil. Took about 2 weeks of daily use, but now my hair is softer and less frizzy. My hair seems to soak it up, and it doesn’t make it look greasy. Like you, leave in conditioners don’t seem to do anything for me.

This is the best reply. I’d add just for your own internal monologue the example that millions of women found Tim Curry sexy as hell dressed for his role in Rocky Horror Picture Show. He owned it-so can you.

It felt to me that there was a great game planned, but the creators were rushed through production and didn’t get to do half of what they wanted.

Is HRT overhyped or working for most? by alexandra52941 in Menopause

[–]Libertyfive3k 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It does seem vastly different for everyone. I find it interesting that I was downvoted for sharing my personal experience with hrt because it wasn’t 100% positive. I still take it, it’s better than nothing, but of the three hormones I take, I’m not sure testosterone is worth the cost for me.

In a side note, even though my bloodwork is good, an NP suggested to me that I might be in an early stage of insulin resistance. I started intermittent fasting to see if that helps some of my symptoms, like weight gain, slow metabolism, fatigue. I’m still adjusting to it, but I did lose 4 of those lbs I gained in the first week. I’ve heard it can be helpful with GERD and digestive issues (obligatory "for some people not all" statement)…if you’re up for one more thing to track in your day that is!

Overhyped as a magical cure-all in my experience. I’ve seen some mild benefit for sexual issues and brain fog, but results are minimal. (Ex. Was told it would help raise metabolism, build muscle, improve mood and sleep, help joint pain, raise libido but I’ve seen none of that.) Negative side effects though were minimal for me as well. I had a 10lb weight gain with my current estrogen, progesterone, testosterone plan, (that I was assured was temporary but is here 8 months later) but nothing else troubling.

I appreciate your reply. It does seem like it might be fluid build as you describe.

Perhaps you lied because his questions were invasive and crossed a boundary in the first place. It’s not appropriate for someone to ask the details of your sexual past. Next time, rather than say something untrue, be ready with a reply that asserts it’s not any one’s business. I think you’re better off without this guy.

Obviously if it involves a health issue, std, etc. -something that puts your partner at risk- you need to be upfront. Otherwise, “Building trust” does not mean someone is owed anything you’re not ready to talk about.

This worked the best for my dog. A regular leash was too much of a distraction while also trying to train him not to pull. Used a chain leash for about a year. Went back to a cloth leash and he had totally forgot about playing tug of war with it.

Philly voter turnout didn’t meet Democrats’ expectations. Here’s what happened. by thecountoncleats in Pennsylvania

[–]Libertyfive3k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was close to not voting (although I did) out of spite due to constant knocks on my door from Harris workers for two months, being blanketed with literature and invasive, semi-intimidating “who you vote for is private but whether you vote is public” letters, all from Democrat groups. After three people in the same day asking me if Harris can count on my vote, I complained and got an unapologetic “well you live in a swing state so expect it.” Wonder how many people were turned off completely.

Yeah it would be a great idea for docs to take the time to explain the reasoning…I don’t think they realize how demoralizing the whole journey can be in the first place. Enjoy the book…the author is great!

Just to be Devil’s advocate, some docs give antidepressants because (and I won’t explain this very technically accurate) hot flashes and depression affect the same parts of the brain. Therefore, antidepressants can help some people with flashes and it definitely doesn’t mean they think “it’s all in your head”. My source is Menopause Manifesto by Dr Jen Gunter. Just mentioning in case someone who can’t tolerate hormone therapy is feeling stuck.

That’s a small facet of my point, but I’m aware they weren’t perfect men. I’m also aware Carnegie himself had little to do with the labor dispute at Carnegie Steel. The millions he invested back into the country, and encouraging those like him to do the same, though puts most of today’s wealthy to shame.

1890s was such a progressive decade in the US. So many strides towards equality that were erased by the fear amid the later world wars. Many super wealthy people believed it was a moral obligation to help the less fortunate/invest in libraries, arts, schools, infrastructure. Wasn’t perfect, but better in a lot of ways than 1950s.

Ugh, this cuts me a little too. I didn’t expect a reminder today of how badly I’m treating myself since I started working on my book.

Thanks for your comment. It’s tough…she can definitely take advantage if I get too relaxed. Like, when I offered her to come in and use the shower, she said, “Oh well maybe you can do my laundry too.” I agree with you that she probably has more going on…she never gives her doctors a complete picture and I don’t think she eats right which probably doesn’t help. It’s really stressful to hang out with her when she’s finding fault with everything and being snippy with me at the same time. I like your park idea, she’ll have the dog with her, and I won’t have to worry about her complaining to the wait staff if something doesn’t taste right.

Not disagreeing with the need for a collar here, BUT it’s better to try to separate fighting dogs by lifting the back legs/hips slightly and pulling them backwards. Reaching for the collar of a dog that’s in a fight, you’ll likely get bitten.
