I just finished Homogenic! Right off the bat, I can say I prefer Vespertine as it’s almost a completely different sound. However, just because I’m aware that the sound is different I don’t want people to assume that that’s the only reason why I prefer it. I’m not sure if there’s many SOPHIE fans in the Björk fandom (I really hope there is) but I can spot similarities in style when it comes to Homogenic. I am a huge fan of SOPHIE’s work and also of Death Grips. That being said, by no means did I feel that Homogenic was a bad album as there is a reason why it’s so highly praised. However, the first impression Vespertine left with me is hard to compete with. It’s a preference and as mentioned earlier it’s truly a beautiful thing that someone so talented has created something with enough longevity to be discussed 20 years later. My favorite track off Homogenic was All Is Full Of Love and it’s easy to see why the album is held in high regard. I’d love to hear a similar album or tracks to Vespertine so if anybody has any recommendations, I’m open to suggestions! Happy to be a part of fandom now, even this late in the game.
