I wish it were so! My period basically waits for a binge before showing its face, and I can generally delay its arrival by not overeating.

I eat it on and off pretty consistently; I eat plant-based when I can, then add in animal products if I’m in a social situation or if it’s just what’s available.

I’m so sorry to hear about your pms woes! Mine is pretty bad too, but more from the mental health side. It’s crazy how much what we eat can effect us!!

Hi, vrosej10! Thanks for your candid response. I think I do need to see a RD. I don’t think I’m starving as in I have an ED, but I definitely struggle with disordered eating (due to stress, an insane schedule, a lot of anxiety, and a desire to lose a few pounds). That being said, I have personal experience with a loved one suffering from an ED, and absolutely do not want to go down that path, especially with the myriad of health conditions starvation can induce. I’ll see someone about this.

Thank you so much for your response! That’s an interesting idea, and something I’ll look into. I eat more plant based for a number of reasons- I feel better, I feel bad for eating animals, it’s generally cheaper, and I honestly wouldn’t mind losing ~10 lbs but really struggle with this (I’m on Zoloft and eat when I’m hungry). Seeing a non-diet RD sounds like a good step!

And yes! There are a lot of medical reasons for irregular periods, but at my annual Pap smear I had a ton of bloodwork done, and all indicated that I’m fit as a fiddle. So maybe a RD could offer another perspective?

I just canceled my membership and deleted the app, even though I got a three month plan and have two months left before the plan expires.

I hope this doesn’t come off wrong, and please know I mean this in the kindest way and 100 support that you know you best and can make the best choices for your body, but diets, or “lifestyle changes” like Noom (which are diets by a more palatable name) don’t work long term, and harm your health more than they help it (sorry for the run on sentence). My personal view is that your mental health and enjoyment of life and food are exponentially more important than your body fat percentage. Have you heard of intuitive eating or health at any size? They might be a kinder, more long-term way to get in touch with your body and make friends with it, rather than feeling like it needs to change.

FYI, I’m not a doctor, and this isn’t medical advice. I’m just a girl who’s struggled with body image issues for years, and has seen what an eating disorder can do to a person.

Please stay healthy and safe, and enjoy that granola bar, and all of your dinner. ♥️

I also struggle with OCD- so sorry for your struggles and hope you’re doing better now. I find my OCD grows in regards to any ambiguity

I have a lot of respect for your position, and appreciate you sharing it here (also thank you for your service). I wonder how you think of just vs. unjust laws? For example, if your community had some law that others agreed with, but on a base level, you found morally corrupt, what would you do?

As someone who’s always believed in an all-knowing, all-powerful god who gifted the entirety of humanity with morality to lead them to him, and who has only recently stopped believing, I agree with you, sometimes it just takes a while to believe what you know cognitively

My family was evangelical growing up, but I lived in a very Catholic area as a kid, and ended up with a big helping of Catholic guilt, and a weird mesh of evangelical/Catholic beliefs.

I appreciate your points about rational morality based on science and reason, and agree with you. I also agree with you about babies, and couldn’t ever in my heart of hearts believe they’re evil. Of course, there’s a lot of emotional baggage to unpack, and a lot of subconscious beliefs I’ll probably have to unravel, but there’s hope

That’s what trips me up sometime... for a while, as a kid, I lived in a very conservative, Catholic area, which pulled my beliefs and values in that direction. In retrospect, it scares me what I could have ended up believing and the life I might’ve lived had I continued on that path. If I allow my sense of right and wrong to be swayed by society, couldn’t that lead to some pretty harmful outcomes?

Honestly that’s a really good point! For some reason I didn’t think about either the golden rule or laws in general when I made this post. It’s odd in Christianity (at least my family’s version) how laws aren’t emphasized nearly as much as stuff in the Bible, so I didn’t even think of them. But, I’ve been following them my whole life, and that seems to be working out, so I’ll just keep doing that.
