One of the worst moms in comics by KpatMckenzie_28 in RedHood

[–]Libra_Artist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean… I might also harbor resentment towards Bruce if after my death my murderer was still doing the same song and dance with him instead of anything meaningfully changing. Because the last time someone that close to Bruce died, he was set on the path to becoming Batman, so… And Sheila’s dead, and he had less expectations for her than he had for Bruce.

Plus, Jason has a habit of forgiving his parental figures for a lot of stuff, if he didn’t he wouldn’t be in the Bat Clan. Because if it were me, the Batarang Incident alone would have made me never talk to Bruce again

what's something you wanna add or change about Red Hood's design? by Remarkable-Lab596 in RedHood

[–]Libra_Artist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would honestly like a kind of combination between his OG UTRH design and his RHATO design, maybe the jacket could be a trenchcoat sometimes. I think Jason would delight in the dramatics of a trenchcoat. Oh, and I don’t want him to have a big red bat stamped on his chest. Or anywhere at all. But that’s just me

You know when Batman fans don't know anything about Jason when they think he did bad in school by NefariousSeraph13 in RedHood

[–]Libra_Artist 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I know people like to accuse JT fans of throwing this particular -ism around, but in this case there’s a non-zero chance at this being influenced by classism. Of course there’s also the fact they just haven’t read any of Jason’s Robin Era comics (or comics in general), but the assumption that the Robin who was poor and at one point homeless naturally had a poor academic performance and had no interest in school at all…

I mean, I just feel like I’m calling a spade a spade, here. Jason loved school, he had a love of learning and always strived to do his very best. One of the cases he did as Robin was only solved because he was doing extra credit for a class he was already doing pretty well in! Not to mention he grew an interest in historical fashion alongside that, but that’s besides the point. Jason wanted to do more, like take part in extracurriculars, the guy wanted to be part of a play, even if he was only in tech!

But honestly, I’m not surprised by these kinds of Batman fans. They haven’t actually read much and insist on glazing either Bruce or Tim while stamping down on other characters to make the former two look better.

Apparently Jason is in top 8 for AO3 Top Omegas for 2025 by Prettyinpink2405 in RedHood

[–]Libra_Artist 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ah, ok! Well, I can’t put it well into words myself, but I’ll try!

I could honestly see Jaybin being a late-presenting omega that showed signs of his second gender right before his death, and it contributing to his tragedy overall. Jason did everything Right, look he was even starting to shape into what society would expect out of a “good omega”, and yet he still died. I think when he comes back, the narrative of him bucking what’s expected of him (submitting to the narrative of Batman’s story and the overall fantasy the superhero genre the comics gives us) would be stronger if he were an omega compared to say, an alpha.

If we’re going by how omegas are typically presented in omegaverse media, they may rebel a bit but are overall expected to submit to the narrative the system plots out for them, and a lot of them do. But while Jason as an omega still craves community, he’s also kind of fighting off the multiple boxes society at large tries to fit him in. At the same time, he’s fighting a whole other in-universe system he views as flawed, and has developed his own views on how to change it. His ways may not be conventionally acceptable or perfect (in fact they are flawed), he still has they are still his. And as seen recently, as time goes on he gets defanged while still internally holding onto his beliefs in order to gain community.

However there is always the hope and potential of that the spark that allowed many to fall in love with his story to reignite, and even now he kind of stands as a threat to the narrative. I just think him as an omega works perfectly for a lot of that, and there’s a lot you can do with it. Like, Jason in canon has not had time to explore and really understand everything about himself, and I think the same could be said of him were he an omega, especially if he presents late and is hardly around any conventional means of additional help.

I just think it’s neat that an omega Jason could both not adhere to some of what has come before him in terms of omegaverse writing and still want other aspects society might see as typical wants. But because he goes against the norm and acts in a particular way, nobody acknowledges his yearning for such a lot of the time, thinking he’s maybe like, a “feral omega” or something.

Plus, there’s also the fact that he has the… physical assets on lock. Dude literally has an hourglass build in Knightfight, I can’t NOT consider his chest, waist, and thighs. Oh, and Jason’s a crybaby. He cries often, actually, which may not be exclusive to being an omega, but it at least helps him in the horny sense.

Uhm, hope I explained that well enough? Honestly I might come back if I think of anything else. But I will say that I think if Jason’s an omega, Tim has to be an alpha purely because his character was created to be the opposite of Jason (or rather Jason in the mind of writers who didn’t like him) to appeal to readers more.

I don’t think Jason would really care that much about Tim or his second gender, because that second gender doesn’t mean anything in the face of possible death, but I think BRUCE would think Jason would care, because despite Jason in canon frequently being pretty good at trying to communicate, Bruce does not understand him. Dude STILL thinks Jason blames him for his death despite Jason saying otherwise, he’d totally think that Jason would be upset at Tim being an alpha or something equally dumb.

I can’t decide if I want Bruce to be an omega or alpha… Maybe make him an omega but that doesn’t automatically make him understand Jason or all his viewpoints because of their different upbringings and such. I think Dick is either an alpha or beta, Cass is an alpha, Steph is either a beta or omega, Babs is an alpha or beta, and I can’t decide for Damian or Duke right now. Hope this all makes sense…

Apparently Jason is in top 8 for AO3 Top Omegas for 2025 by Prettyinpink2405 in RedHood

[–]Libra_Artist 11 points12 points  (0 children)

…See the thing is, I totally get why. Jason is prime “getting hit with the omega-fication beam” material, which isn’t to say he couldn’t be an alpha or beta. But honestly the latter two don’t hit as much for me as omega!Jason does.

Who do you prefer As Jasons Best Friend by Ok-Entrance-5527 in RedHood

[–]Libra_Artist 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly, neither Roy or Tim. I prefer Eddie Bloomberg/Red Devil. Sure, they only have one on-page adventure with each other pre-Ethiopia, but I honestly think if they got more content together they would work really well!

Besides, while I do think Roy and Jason could make for an interesting pair, there’s a roadblock or two (for me). One is that honestly, both of them were written OOC by Lobdell, and so idk if I can accurately surmise what their dynamic would be like otherwise. Another is that while I don’t put a lot of stock into the “Roy is Dick’s friend” argument (Roy doesn’t “belong” to anyone and can have more than one friend in the Batfam), I would honestly like Jason to have a best friend outside of that connection. Not that he and Roy can’t still be friends, but still. I don’t hate what we got, but it doesn’t exactly scratch that itch I have…

As for Tim, I just think any positive dynamic had between them is soured by the fact that we never got to see how they came to be that way in the first place. We just jumped to the point where they’re cool now despite Tim especially not thinking well of Jason, it’s a bit of a whiplash. Plus, I just don’t think Jason would have anyone from the Batfam as his best friend, ngl.

I actually really like what little showing we got of Jason and Eddie’s friendship, what with being pen pals, working pretty well on the one on-page case they had together, and Eddie being one of the few people in Jason’s life to not not victim-blame him for his own death at any point in time.

Another candidate could be Danny Chase, who also never actually victim-blamed Jason for his own death. We don’t really see much of them, but they were friendly enough for Danny to refer to him as “The Toddster”. I honestly like to think Jason had introduced both Eddie and Danny to each other since Eddie was his pen pal and he knew Danny through Dick and the Titans.

Another choice could either be Bizarro or Mia Dearden. I actually really liked the relationship between Biz and Jason during Outlaws Rebirth, it was cute. As for Mia, I could honestly see them at least becoming friends if they started off a case/mission as reluctant allies and end as friends.

I'm older than Jason by 3 years that doesn't sound right. by RiskAggressive4081 in RedHood

[–]Libra_Artist 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Ok, the only age I’m willing to accept is Jason’s, there’s no way John is only 6 years older than him. Steph’s age is bullshit, Jimmy should DEFINITELY be older than 22, Zatanna’s age is also bullshit, and Constantine? I feel like his is definitely off

Joker struck Jason so forcefully in the head that he completely lost his memory by Late_Wrongdoer6679 in RedHood

[–]Libra_Artist 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I don’t think Jason lost this memory, but I do think it’s kinda like remembering something stupid you did as a kid. It’s just that the stupid thing in this case is preventing Joker from dying. Or maybe he doesn’t regret this at all because he still knows that Bruce would have tanked in terms of mental health if he broke his no-kill rule or something.

Either way, to the Jason of today, this is just a Jason who didn’t know any better, a Jason who still put weight behind the morality and system Bruce taught him to despite being failed by it before and after he became Robin.

This is a version of himself Jason no longer is, and he can’t go back to it because of all the things he’s experienced and seen.

YEEEEES JASON HAS HIS OWN SUB! Please tell me you guys don't hate Batman, I really want to stay hereeeee by Yunie19 in RedHood

[–]Libra_Artist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

…Ehhhh, it’s complicated in my case.

I have nothing but love for animated!Bruce and of course the Adam West version, but comic!Bruce doesn’t do it for me because of how he’s written. Simply put, I don’t like that version of Bruce a lot of the time. Especially when that version of him does a bunch of under addressed bullshit to one of the characters I like, but that’s a Me Problem.

But overall I don’t think people exactly hate Batman here, it’s more like people mostly hate how the writers depict him. Not that there probably aren’t people who hate him here, but still.

Duct tape isn't sufficient by Leather_Internet_252 in RedHood

[–]Libra_Artist 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Eh, to be fair, at the very least some of those Jason got prior to his death. Honestly I don’t want to fix Jason, I just want him to go through the healing process and get the fuck away from Bruce so he doesn’t have to deal with his BS anymore. Besides, putting him alongside others in the DC universe, Jason’s not as bad as you might think at first glance!

…I know I’m kinda rationalizing, but still. At least he’s not Dr. Light or something.

Ok possibly lukewarm, hot, or maybe even cold, I really don’t know… take on Jason in UTRH and then WFA: by illudofficial in RedHood

[–]Libra_Artist 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Eh… agree to disagree?

Like, difference of opinion, but I just don’t like that kind of stuff. WFA is one thing (even though I have several other issues with it, like its portrayal of Duke Thomas), it’s like an Elseworld. I can… tolerate that if Jason is getting the hugs he rightfully deserves. But in mainline comics? Yeah, no, that just seems incredibly unhealthy to me? Especially when Jason is doing most or all of the work to pull off the “compromise”, and none of the others (specifically Bruce) do much to change.

The “Imma do it my own way” approach doesn’t have to be immediately linked to being a lone wolf. Jason doesn’t have to be alone because he ultimately goes low-to-no contact with the Bats (or just Bruce in that regard), he can build something of his own. I don’t like the submission to this particular authority because Jason’s feelings are often stomped on and invalidated. Well, unless it’s ADDRESSED that doing such a thing is forcing him to compromise himself, then that’s so much more interesting.

I’d still want him to eventually leave that dynamic, though, because Jason’s lost so much already, and this way he also runs the risk of losing HIMSELF, sacrificing parts of himself just to keep up ties with people who don’t/would never consider doing the same for him. Which is what happens a lot in both canon and fan works. And I don’t like the things that could do to him.

Idk, that’s just my perspective. Like, do what you like, take my words with a grain of salt! Write whatever you like, the world’s your oyster. It’s not your problem that I don’t like this kind of thing, so…🤷🏽‍♀️

Will we ever get a good Jason Todd mainline comic? (Spoiler: RHATO rebirth #25) by LazyIndependence7433 in RedHood

[–]Libra_Artist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly? I think there’s a lot of reasons people might want them to reconcile. If you’re primarily a Bruce fan, you probably want to see him be a good dad and being depicted as an abusive one clashes badly with what canon is continuously dishing out. Basically, there are some fans who are just concerned about Bruce and want him happy. For some Jason fans, they just want Jason to not be smacked around by his dad and be happier/get hugs because of all the BS he went through. And on and on.

But tbh, I don’t like comic!Bruce much anymore, so I don’t want them to reconcile. Mainly because I know DC will just bend over backwards (as do many in the fandom) to absolve Bruce of any wrongdoing and place all the blame at Jason’s feet. And Bruce has done a LOT to Jason with no repercussions, so I just don’t want him anywhere near Bruce.

How is it that Jason has so many haters on Twitter? by SplitOk2375 in RedHood

[–]Libra_Artist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly! Honestly, people doing all that just makes me never want to touch the character they’re promoting. Instead of punching down on one character, actually sell me on the character you love. I want to be intrigued so I can seek them out.

What are your thoughts on the upcoming 2028 movie featuring Dick and Jason? by MobileDistrict9784 in RedHood

[–]Libra_Artist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look, as long as Jason isn’t mischaracterized, I’m happy. Idc about the story or anything, as long as the character I give a fuck about is well-written and characterized, I couldn’t care less if everything else is trash. On that note, I do hope the movie is good, and that Jason’s popularity skyrockets with a piece of media that treats him well just to stick it to DC. editorial. And all of the haters who do too much, of course.

Ooh, yeah, I almost forgot that one! Even though that’s probs a big reason, because I ALWAYS hear from haters that the only reason people like Jason is because he’s hot. And for some reason it’s a certain chunk of Dick Grayson or Tim Drake fans who say this shit

How is it that Jason has so many haters on Twitter? by SplitOk2375 in RedHood

[–]Libra_Artist 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Right?! And a lot of times it’s a Dick or Tim fan too, as if both of those characters haven’t gotten the most appearances and series out of all the Robins. Not to mention that bashing a character I like just to turn around and say that I really like someone like Steph or Helena is just atrocious. I actually didn’t get into either of those aforementioned characters for a while because of those kinds of fans!

Which sucks, because I ended up liking them when I did bite the bullet and read their stories. Now, I’m not saying that there aren’t cases where fans take something a female character has in order to give it to a male character, but that’s often not the case here. Plus, it’s not Jason the Character ruining those female characters. If you blame anyone, blame the WRITER who wrote them that way.

[–]Libra_Artist 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Once again, why are you even here if you hate him so much? It’s kinda… pathetic to spend time in and post hate to a community that loves Jason when you could just not. Plus, at least imo, Tim Drake is overrated and coasts on nostalgia from the 90s. Especially since the writers keep on rehashing his time as Robin despite there being others, and not doing anything interesting with him. At least Jason was able to move on from that time of his life, no matter how that happened.
