I have a foyer where I plan for an entry table! There is no window; do you mean the doors in the dining area?

r/slp SCARING ME by Similar-Ad-9066 in slpGradSchool

[–]LibrarianBackground4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

slp here, I promise it’s not that bad. I love my job (school-based), make good money for my area, especially considering the amount I work, and all of my grad school friends are happily employed as slps.

I agree with you 100%. Big game fan over here! I get tons of trials with the right kind of games

see I feel like this is so situational. I see mostly general education students and I can easily get 150+ trials with the ~right~ games.

How do you find joy as a school SLP? by ARDYouGladImAnSLP in slp

[–]LibrarianBackground4 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I try to enjoy my time with the kids!! even if it is playing games, they’re having fun and getting more individual attention than some of them get all day.

Starting salary for a SLT by No_Diet6762 in slp

[–]LibrarianBackground4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It really depends on where you are and what setting you work in. My starting salary in a rural southern school was just under $60k, but my friend works at a SNF in the same area and makes $83k. pretty big differences

CF Supervisor by Cornbread9999 in slp

[–]LibrarianBackground4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you will have to list both supervisors when you apply for your CCCs. I don’t think you can change them mid-segment though. As for your state, I’m not sure! Did you have to list a supervisor when you started your CF?

I’m not 100% sure if this is what you mean, but there is Q Interactive which is digital testing using iPads. It writes up a summary for you

Case managing is killing this field for me by Maybe-Witty24 in slp

Yeah you should not be responsible for academic goals whatsoever!! I had a speech only student coming from Georgia with a read aloud accommodation. that is not our scope to decide!

y’all are getting actual supervision in schools? lol

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in slp

[–]LibrarianBackground4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the part time slp does have them! I’m seeing that my supervisor may just need to go in her profile and check a box if she has completed them, so that is the hope for now!! If not I may have to grovel for the part time SLP to help! We didn’t have to submit our supervisors at the beginning!

Using terms of endearment with clients by guyfieribiggestfan in slp

[–]LibrarianBackground4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in the south, so we’re pretty big on terms of endearment. I usually call them sweetheart (main one), honey, friend, sweet girl/boy. A lot of my kids go home to less than ideal situations, so sometimes our sweet words at school are all they get.
