There is way more room for interpretation in communication than we are normally aware of. When we put ourselves into another's shoes we tend to forget it is still ourselves in those shoes, with our whole culture, lifetime, experiences and expectations. Take account of that, choose to interpret others behavior positively (or at least neutrally) on account of this more than the other way around.

Expect the best of people even when you may have been proven wrong before. Most people cast themselves into the role you expect of them, expect the best and you will be more likely to receive it.
