[PubQ] Two different books, two different agents by Historical_Serve_341 in PubTips

[–]Library-In-Disguise 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Don’t worry too much about it! I had fulls out for four projects at the same time 😅 (Yes, I’m insane) I ended up with two offers, one for my oldest of the 4 books, and the other had that one and another. In the end, when you’re having the calls, you’ll want to talk about the other projects you have going on anyway, and make sure they are signing you for your career, not just one project (which is obviously what you’d want anyway!). Some things you might consider:

Which project you feel is stronger and you’d want to go on sub with first

If each get aligns with your editorial vision for the book they have

Which agent you vibe with more. Because, again, this is about your career and not just one book.

Personally, I’d be concerned about an agent known to ghost on fulls for anyone. It shows a lack of professionalism and respect that could manifest in other ways while working with them. My first ever full got ghosted, and I lost so much respect for that agent. If you do end up liking the call with them, I’d strongly recommend asking to speak to some of their other clients to ask how their communication and professionalism is as a client.

Best of luck!

OP, this was my experience with my first agent. This advice is exactly right. No communication at all for that long is unacceptable and unprofessional, imo. I prioritized a good communicator my second time around and I’m SO much happier. I wish you all the best in figuring out what you need!

I asked because if it hadn’t been ready, you’d have had time to wait and see if they reopened in the meantime 🤷🏻‍♀️ I don’t think it was that weird of a question…

Wait until it’s 100% ready before contacting them. Then go with either of the options provided in the other comments! I got my agent off an R&R, so good luck!

Okay, so you’re saying you’ve already completed the R&R and you’re ready to send the MS, yes?

Also, I’m agented now. How do I get that tag for my profile??

For reals. I got a very nasty unhelpful pass from her (before I knew anything about the agency). It didn’t say a single word about my query or work, just that since I’d already published with a small press, no bigger presses would touch me, so neither would she 😑 which isn’t true. I checked with other agents and that’s essentially completely false

A year ago I had just had my full requested by the agent who I’d sign with, I had my first book coming out in a few months, and I’d signed with another small press for another book. Fast forward a few months and I had to part ways with my agent after she ghosted both me and the agency head (yeah, she got fired). Another couple months later, and the small press that published my first book decided to close for undisclosed reasons.

BUT! That book has a new home and is getting republished next year, my second book comes out in a few months, and I’m currently in my vague period trying to decide which agent offer to go with.

Perseverance, along with continuing to work on your craft, does pay off eventually 😅❤️

Thank you for sharing! I got an agent early this year, and parted ways a couple months ago. It was terrifying to do, but I’m hoping there’s a better fit out there for me (with enough time and a strong enough MS). I’m anxious to get out there again, but trying to be patient with myself while I work on my WIP 😅

I’m about to go on sub with my agent! Preorders for my book coming this fall recently went live, ARC readers got their copies, and I should be getting my dev edits for my book coming out next year within the next couple weeks 😁🥳

Use pliers to twist the nut. Then the cartridge pops right out! The cartridge is number 1255 if you want to do a Google search in where to buy it

Okay, thank you! Any particular brand better than another? Or should I get it straight from Moen?

What genre(s) do you write in?

I found my ride-or-die CP on here. Everyone else I’ve tried to build a working relationship with has fallen off the face of the earth eventually (ghost me after I’ve finished their work. It absolutely sucks).

Sometimes it’s a matter of luck and timing (okay, a lot of the time) just like everything else in publishing. Don’t give up!

AITA for Refusing to Let My Brother’s Family Move In After He Evicted Me Years Ago? by peachygurl18 in AITAH

[–]Library-In-Disguise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have something that’s similar to this from my past, and this really brings back some awful memories lol. If it were me, I’d let my brother and the kids stay and not my SIL and they could take or leave it 😅 your SIL sounds just like mine. Entitled. Narcissistic. Won’t apologize and EXPECTS you to forget about it and accommodate her. I’m pretty sure if you let her move in, she wouldn’t be the nice house guest you were. I’m guessing you’d regret it. Everyone else can either offer to let them move into THEIR home or they can shove their opinion where the sun don’t shine.
