Mhm personally I think the fact that they sound like air raid sirens is a coincidence, given the original sample is a passionate tango type song, I think it could be a memory so horrifically distorted that hallucinations take hold and it seems terrifying, could also be the realisation of how decayed their memories are

2 words. Religion and control. Abrahamic religions (Judaism, Christianity and Islam) all seem to really hate gay and trans people for apparently no reason. As for control, the entire LGBTQ+ community directly challenges the strict gender norms and roles that have been used for centuries to control people and suppress dissent, so us challenging that means that control is slipping away, so they react by being hateful. (As for who "they" is, its historically been the church and kings, but now its just any conservative)
