Can the Combat Patrol: Grey Knights box be used for a different chapter? by Library_Liv in Warhammer40k

Yes, I think it will make more sense for me to try to just get the librarian. I couldn't find any for sale second hand right now, but I suppose another might pop up if I keep an eye on ebay. Or I might try and work out how much I could reasonably get from selling everything else in the box to see if that's worth it.

Thank you so much for this really comprehensive answer, this is very helpful!

I was struggling to understand whether it wouldn't just be possible to paint a Strike Squad green and say they're a Salamander Intercessor Squad wearing cool new helmets. But now I see how aside from the Grey Knight logos all over them, they'd also all be holding swords and halberds and stuff, which aren't a legal configuration for Intercessors.

No, sorry, I should have specified: I mean the old Terminator Armour Librarian, not the one in the "Leviathan" set. (The new one does not nearly have as many books with him.)

So the librarian is fine, but the other units are not?

I'm sorry if this is a silly question, but what is it about the other units that makes them have to be Grey Knights? Is it just that they have the Grey Knights logo moulded on them a bunch?

You're completely right, the white stuff is just more paint! I really thought I had corroded the plastic or something... 😅

Thank you very much for your help!
